CaledonianGonzo
Where it's at cutting edge beats with a refreshing global emphasis and a likely almoghty bangerfest? Or insufferable EDM nonsense for taps aff bros called Chad and altogether best avoided by right thinking cognoscenti?

CaledonianGonzo
I have downloaded Spotify's This Is: Major Lazer playlist onto my phone, so come tomorrow morning's commute we shall see. Full disclosure: I already know and like Light It Up.

CaledonianGonzo
Likely Other Stage headliners, do we reckon? Any indicators as to which night?

CaledonianGonzo
Friday could work if Radiohead feels like it might be a bit downbeat.....
jonodillieono
They're a lot more edm-y live than they sound on record. It's essentially a DJ set playing all their big tunes mixed in with stuff like swedish house mafia and snoop dogg and everywhere in between
simian_mobile_mushrooms
The second one without a doubt
ghostdancer1
it's the latter. not quite Guetta/Aoki levels of EDM nonsense, but it's still pop-dance rubbish for the flower crown, bindi and vest selfie crew.
Tootts
I saw them a few years ago off the back of the first album (which I enjoyed) and it was awful, featuring someone wandering around the stage in a Major Lazer inflatable suit, Diplo zorbing badly and taking his top off/waving it around his head, and nonsense EDM music. I was aghast but the crowd were going nuts! I think I might be about 20 years too old though... won't be making that mistake again

They've had some crap chart hits since I saw those though. Stuff like Lean On will probably suck the atmosphere out of the field.
Mardy
I'll be honest, i'd never heard them/heard of them till a few days ago. Someone put a clip up on here somewhere and was pretty dreadful. It's the EDM equivalent of Agadoo
Woffy
Is there a specific dance we have to learn like Oops Upside Your Head or the Lionel Richie one?
CaledonianGonzo
Get half naked, daub yourself in fluorescent paint and wave a couple of glowsticks around like you're trying to land a plane.

They've stolen the inflatable hamster ball crowd surf from the flips as well. Most of their songs they play live are remixed a lot so it's more dancier, they closed with the original version of Lean On at Parklife for like a less intense closer i think
