This was an even bigger shambles than the traffic the day before.

Advertised as on the Pyramid, yet actually on one of the disabled viewing platforms, meaning thousands of people waiting in the wrong place long after it had already started; no amplification from what I could tell so you couldn't hear anything even from about 30 feet away (as close as I got before giving up); which was made even worse by the constant sound checking on the Pyramid stage; and the lyrics held up on signs that only the front row would have been able to read was just comical.

I felt especially sorry for all the people who had made the effort to dress up for it, but I really have no idea what the people who organised it were thinking. Its like they'd organised it for the back room of a pub, not the biggest festival in the world. It was an utter shambles.

I don't know why the organisers are making out it was such an a hit it was aright shambles and took a massive trek to find it. Would've been better in Williams green. They could've at least liased with the organisers there was a big enough crowd there to make it into something special.

disgusting considering it was shown on the bcc footage too that the pryamid was pumping out the same tame impala song every 2 minutes and drowning out what they were trying to do!! completely disrespectful.

I too was expecting something on the pyramid and was really disappointed but i did manage to get myself up on the stage and on the bbc highlights as I was dressed as Jareth!

how hard would it have been for glastonbury to put a full bowie concert on the pyramid stage screen on Thursday.. its the least they could do.

To address some points and frustrations!

1) The sound. We're so sorry that it couldn't be heard by everyone. We had a small PA (appropriate for an unofficial, public-led event as opposed to a listed, festival one but small nonetheless!). The Pyramid team were soundchecking half the time we were up there which again was unfortunate, we tried making as much contact as we could leading up to the start time.

2) Location. We managed to secure the use of the uphill disabled platform on the day and made this public on our Facebook and Twitter channels as soon as this was the case. Prior to then, we had listed our location as in the Pyramid Field and were listed as such on the clashfinder as well (save for an early version of the lyrics booklet which said 'Pyramid Stage')

Putting on GlastonBowie was a great laugh and felt like a triumph against adversity in so many ways. One of the things we had to be very conscious of was that we were doing it 'by consent' of the festival. This means that they knew we were doing something and that they were happy to let it happen, but equally we couldn't turn up with a massive sound system and start creating precedent for 'proper' shows not approved by Glasto. Which you'll probably agree, is reasonable.

Which then leads you to ask "Why not get it on one of the main stages?" - the reason being that we were utterly unproven. We had no recordings, no live experience to cite, and Glastonbury tends to be "we'll call you" when it comes to booking talent, for good reason. We could try to push harder for getting ourselves on a real stage with real PA equipment, but equally that could've led them to say 'no' to the whole thing.

For those who did come, whether you could hear us or not, I hope you enjoyed it. It's been a labour of love and something that we've worked on since the start of the year, putting our own money and time into. If we've left you with disappointment I hope you know that it is with the best intentions at heart.

Fair play to you for coming here and explaining yourself. Sounds like you had the best of intentions anyway.
