after the disaster that was my Saturday last year I got in a huff and declared that this year I didn't want to see anyone on the pyramid

looks like i'm going to be camping out there all day now, starting with Madness then whoever is on before Radiohead to get a good spot and then following into Adele

Until all you radiohead fans that have made your way to the front see James Blunt walk onto stage, fresh from his triumph at the Queen's birthday bash

I would laugh if that happened (and cry a little inside) - he is quite the joker on twitter, maybe he is moving on to trolling special guest slots.

Went along last night, here are some thoughts of mine!

* We got there a few minutes after 7pm and the queue was enormous. Slight feelings of worry that we'd be standing outside for ages but actually it got moving pretty quickly and we were in just before 7.30pm. The security guys check your tickets and ID while you're in the queue so once you get to the main door you just have to show your wristband and ticket, and then your ticket again once you're inside.

* We went to the side of the stage as I'm pretty small, and actually got an amazing view about 2 rows from the front. Where we were standing it never felt crowded and everyone around us was very friendly!

* Thom sounded great and looked like he was really enjoying himself.

* Of all of them, we had the best view of Ed - he looked very smart.

* Bar queue was tiny, merch queue looked long-ish.

* The audience were v respectful - it was very quiet during the slower numbers, at one point someone dropped a cup from the seating area (I assume) which sent a bit of a titter round, so you can tell how quiet it was!

* I don't think I realised what a soft spot I have for Hail To The Thief. The first time I saw Radiohead live was in 2003 when they were touring it, and so the first song from them I ever heard live was There There. When they brought out the drums for it it made me really happy, and I wouldn't have thought in advance that would have been one of my highlights. 2+2 = 5 was obviously a stormer.

* Thom pulled out some cracking dance moves. He actually seemed more chatty than when I've seen them before but maybe that's just me?

* I don't think it was my ideal set-list but it was still fab. I'm glad they didn't play Creep (obviously - plus I've seen it live three times, not sure how?!) but I would have loved to see Just or Street Spirit. My favourite album is In Rainbows so I'm never going to have thought there was enough from there! Really enjoyed hearing You And Whose Army actually as well, and the crowd went mad for Planet Telex.

*Myxomatosis to Idioteque was briiiiiiiiill.

* Before the show I didn't feel I'd really given enough time to AMSP, however I actually found that the new tracks sounded great in their own right already.

* No mention of Glasto, HOWEVER - I'm SURE I heard Thom mumble something at some point and say something about 'can't you just wait a week?' I'm not going so not invested either way but something for you guys to salivate over.

* It took a while to get out...

do we know that art is saturday night headliner then?? nice if so!

He's down for the Acoustic stage on Saturday. I'm just assuming he's headlining! Would really throw a spanner in the works if he's playing earlier in the evening or something...

Surely Art will do a sunset slot.  Bridge Over as the sun goes down behind the Pyramid.  i will have to be careful my heart does't explode with joy and tears.

I dont think his voice is strong enough for the pyramid unfortunately.

People were shouting a few things throughout and Glasto was one of them. Obviously it could have been in relation to anything (and I could have mis-heard) but doubt they've got much else to announce next week?

Around which song did he say it?

Someone could go through the videos from last night, clear up the sound, and play it over and over again t find out.

I'm only half joking :P

I don't remember, and I think you need to go outside for a while!

So if it's somewhat expected that Radiohead will be announced on Tuesday, is there any chance at all they could self confirm at the Roundhouse? The only way I can see it happening is they tie it in with Pyramid Song. I don't think it's particularly likely but it's worth keeping an eye out for it!

Whoa!

From what someone said that (from something else they said) I think is likely to be true, the announcement will have special guests on it - so probably not radiohead mentioned by name.

    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
    • Yeh, the quiet camping also seems to be on the same side (broadly) as the bits of the festival that go on the latest (Far Out / Chai Waalahs / RTT until 4am). We're always in Tangerine Fields which is right behind the main stage and as soon as that and Rising Stage are done it's pretty quiet (midnight onwards) which I'd guess is pretty similar if you can hack taking all your gear from the car past the big tree in the middle and into the campsites that side.
