Fallow year 2018

So ... the sneaky buggers have extended the fallow years gap again. I knew they would when it was stretched yet again supposedly just for the olympics.

The fallow year used to be every 3rd year, then every 4th then every 5th, and now confirmed as every 6th.

How soon do you reckon until it's abandoned all together?

Well to me the fallow year seems to ensure a really strong, blooming, possibly a changed festival the year after. They have time to chase down bigger acts (The Stones in 2013), and negotiate deals, whilst raising demand for slots in the undercard.

I don't really know what to think of this specific move. I just feel that by 2017 the crew might need a rest.

I doubt it.

I've just read a news story that quotes Emily about what Michael has said, and I read Emily's words as a polite way of saying "don't listen to what Michael is saying".

So it's just an unsubtle warning shot to his neighbours not to ask for too much dosh to rent their land?

Must be a nice little earner for them, they won't want to lose that.

So is the shift to 2018 now fully confirmed?  I generally don't trust ITV with anything

We all know why this has been done

EE phones Daft Punk HQ

DP: Hello

EE: Hello Daft Punk crew, would you headline Glastonbury 2016 please.

DP: Well we are gearing up for our Alive 17 tour, can we headline that year?

EE: urm, that's a little tricky because we are planning a year off then.

DP: oh well, if we are still around in 2027 give us a call then

EE: actually we'll have a year off in 2018 instead

DP: brilliant, see you in two years.
