Er, there isn't any grime in the South East Corner (to date) and I think the sole representation of it was in some of the stuff Toddla T was playing but I don't recall any grime artists on the bill last year...

Grime is a big UK musical scene full of innovators and people working their arses off often with little commercial backing and deserves to be represented.

Hey Fuzzy Dunlop - Manchester? Yes? Do you know DRS? And some good stuff on at Antwerp Mansion and Soup Kitchen. If you're interested.

Thanks Northern Soul, will check out the 2ManyDJS mix :dancer:

I was talking about my experience in 2013...thinking about it more, I would suggest the lack of decent house music in the south east corner leads to the amount of people who just pass through as the kind of stuff theyd hear on the hell stage for example (a horrible breaks/edm / skrillex shite from what I remember) (that's without needing to queue to get into anywhere) wont be to many tastes....the only real exception was genosys, which had some great sets, but may (greg Wilson aside) have been too techno for most 'casual' dance music fans at a festival. (bez's acid house, perhaps being too 'ravey' / old skool by the other extreme.

still I take on board that silver hayes probably does cater for the more house head. and you have the downlow for disco....

Id also like to see a bit of northern soul this year though (no surprise!;-))

That Blawan set was great and almost worth the 45 minute queue to get in. I have seen/heard some poor Blawan sets elsewhere though.

I've been craving for some heavy techno in the London Underground ever since as it's a great venue, but alas it seems not to be.

Until then I'll just down suggestively named cocktails in the NYC Downlow.

Just noticed that at Koko on the Thursday of the festival they're having 'The Gaslamp Killer Experience' surely must mean he's nailed on for a few sets? Hell Stage Low End Theory takeover, just off to start the petition now....

Ahh just noticed he's playing in Holland on the Friday and Denmark on the Saturday. Still there's always hope about Sunday.

The new area 'Brainwash' tweeted this to me today. Whether this date is universal for all Shangri-La announcements, who knows?

@SPTFRE first announce 11 May :) But i CAN tell you our afterhours music policy is: Fri. electro (live hardware) and Sat. darkside jungle.

11 may seems like a reasonable day to announce the full line up for the festival (well stages and most of the acts if you know what i mean).

However, I'm probably just being overly hopeful.

What differentiates Electro Hardware from other dance genres?

Electro but played on hardware like Roland synthesizers and sequencers rather than just a DJ set or played off a laptop

Usually its like acid house or techno played on hardware

it says on their twitter they are a late night nano venue appearing exclusively at shangri la. so i expect that particular field.

i think they will have a slightly different layout down there this year, would be great to have a few more tiny places to stumble upon.

its always so busy down there tho due to the hell stage. more room in common / latino

Last year they had tiny venues in Heaven, like the Leisure Centre, so sounds like Brainwash are something similar - they wont host any particularly big DJs.

Never did find any of the Heaven venues last year... cant really be fucked to push my way through the crowds to find them

    • I was so lucky yesterday, disappointed of course not to see Massive Attack, but gorgeous sets from Blood Orange, Caroline, Panda Bear, and Father John Misty was a real highlight. The half of Geese i saw was mint too.   I wanted to see overmono but couldnt hack it anymore.   But now, its Friday, I'm In Love
