where has this coldplay 'thing' come from and what day are they meant to be playing?

What stone have you been under? Can I borrow it?

It's just came from nowhere in the headliners thread, just making it up really, I'm sure Russy is responsible...

Pays to be best mates with the Eavis' eh... Becoming as regular as Biggles Wartime Band! Poor choice imho.

look at the comments, this c**t is everything that's wrong with the festival now

Coldplay would be bit of a let down, I think that people expect true legends with superstar status to be the Saturday Night headline act. I personally like to see either AC/DC or Pink Floyd playing that slot.

The Scientist

In My Place

Yellow

Shiver

Clocks

Politik

I think that's all I like by them, so no, I'll avoid this one. I have seen them before though (used to be a fan) and they are an impressive live act, so if you're into that sort of thing, go and see them

Presumably they will only play 1 or 2 of those at most, as they've done loads of albums since then.

Let's get it right, Parachutes was a great album, they haven't reached those heights since, imo . They've had some solid albums but Parachutes is a classic from beginning to end not a bad track, i was a fan but no longer, i have seen then at Earls court, Crystal Palace in 2005 and at Glasto, the latter in 2010 was amazing, but there it ends and i have seen them done that and moved on.

when was the last time you listened to parachutes out of interest? I only ask because I sort of would have agreed with you (perhaps in not quite so glowing terms...) but I played it yesterday for the first time in years and it's much shitter than I had thought

Good point, I saw them on the Viva La Vida tour, so I can imagine the setlists have drastically changed since then. Had a little look at their most recent setlists, and was surprised to see Yellow dropped

Not for a while Russy, though i do catch tunes from it every now and then. Agreed it may sound " dated"? I still like it though, though most of their earlier stuff has been so overplayed in the past it may just seem 'shiittier" to you now.

Florence.

Again - why pay her loads of money, when she'd be happy to sub or healine the Other?

So that's Florence and the Machine and Sigur Ros..?

Florence playing anyway and Sigur Ros are nowhere near big enough, with virtually no recognisable songs to the general public.

And neither are big interesting risky acts. Hardly genius bookings. They just feel like someones pulled out the last minute and they've been bumped up.

Any more amazing ideas anyone? I guess the Gorillaz would be different/ risky/ interesting. Oh wait they tried that and they were total shit.

If the Foos and Coldplay are Friday/Saturday headliners then i'll partying in the south east corner earlier than I anticipated.

This would be monumentually shit booking on the part of Glastonbury. Not a massive pyramid fan myself anyway but even I can see how dire this would be.

Surely it couldn't happen?

A lot of people seem to love Parachutes and dismiss everything else, but it is possibly my least favourite album... well, apart from the last one. Too MOR.

I am a biggish fan, particularly live, but they've never done an album I've loved from start to finish. Viva La Vida is probably closest.

Same here, but I tend to make few appearance over the weekend anyway.

What would top it off is if Florence was the Sunday headliner. That would easily be the 3 most unimaginative boring, predictable acts i've ever seen headline Glastonbury.

Uh, what?

They're big enough to headline West Holts in my opinion, but there's no room on the Other Stage anyway, what with Alt-J, Chems and The National taking the headline slots :spiteful:

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
    • So for Harry Styles it was actually a plastic bag that basically blocks the view of the front and back cameras. You can still use the phone screen. It's much easier than using lockers, especially for people leaving for the last train etc    I think it's basically reliant on the threat of security kicking you out if you start filming.
    • Hey, does anybody have a joining link for the WhatsApp group plz? I know the secret sets get posted there but have a new phone and number
