Hehe. Now, i'm not going to be anywhere near Elton, but it'll make my folks happy, and that'll do for me. There's normally very little i want to see on the Pyramid, really, so they might as well book some acts that my friends and family want

The Dirt is a really good read, regardless of your tates in music. It's a helluva story, and well told. Little throwaway details that leave you breatless at their audacity.

and "Wasted" just read it. Lots of involvement in free parties in the 90's esp DIY ones. Quite harrowing and it really makes you (well me) think about stuff in the last few pages. Can't recommend enough.

Andy Kershaw's biog No Off Switch is a great read, especially the chapter backstage trying to sort out the logistics of a Rolling Stones gig.

John Peel's autobiography is worth a read. My favourite music related book has to be Peter Hook's "How not to Run a club" about the Hacienda. It's a cracking read from start to finish, New Order getting spangled in Ibiza is a particular highlight.

Cider with Roadies by Stuart Maconie is really good..proper page turner ;-) White Line Fever "by" Lemmy is bloody mad and a well good read. No One Gets Out Alive - the Jim Morrison thing is an oldie but goodie. The Saga of Hawkwind by Carol Clark is pretty good.

The most thoroughly researched book of their lives & career, and much more than just about the Beatles, it's about the entire birth of popular music and the culture that grew out of the 60s, which turned the whole world upsidey down. A great read, really well written.

There's an even-longer version if you're up for it, which is even-longer-better! Can't wait for volume two (vol one just goes up to the release of their first single).
