That would have been a *stellar* weekend for me! Sonja b2b Nicolas Lutz in the Woods for a bit of vibey minimal....yes, please!

Ben

I caught Lutz and Richards b2b at Prima last year. The term "journey" is often maligned, but that's what it was. 11pm, two hours of hypnotic minimal techno right on the beach with a warm Balearic sea breeze. Not my usual scene and I only wandered over to kill some time but couldn't pull myself away.

Stayed there until sunrise. Special Request followed by a Tim Reaper b2b Sherelle came straight after. Can't remember the last time I stayed on one stage for six hours. Good times.

Ahhh, roll on Summer...

Really missed out on my techno fix last year (and 2019 for that matter). Hoping to catch some 140-150 faster stuff this year.

Any thoughts on likely bookings? I'd imagine Charlie Sparks, Trym etc are likely?

Some sets I've been smashing through:

DLV Boiler Room Warsaw

Klangkuenstler at Teletech

I would be all over Charlie Sparks! Wouldn't mind 6ejou, VTSS and 999999999 as well.

Highly doubtful and not necessarily in keeping with the tone on that particular stage, but Tale of Us on IICON would be interesting. Couple of harder ones amongst this lot for the 140+ BPMers too

That's a belter lineup... Wow!! Funnily enough, the other day I was thinking about Tale of Us being at Glasto somewhere, would be another thing I would love to see happen.

It's a fun festival too, I went in 2017. That main stage is epic, Papa Sven with a set for the ages. Incredible.

It has happened before, they played on the Blues stage in silver hayes in 2014 as part of the circoloco takeover

I've only ever seen videos from Futur that look EPIC! There's a Ben Klock set online somewhere that looked like one for the ages

Aphex Twin rumoured for Field Day…….would love to see him on the farm

Someone on another thread just made the genius suggestion of a West Holts headlining slot. Can you imagine RDJ with that sound on that stage? Throw in a couple wonky visuals. The opening bars of Polynomial-C just as the last of the Sunday sun disappears behind the vale of Avalon...

That's good to know! Would love to see it happen again, Circo Loco takeover sounds cool too.

99% that field day announces him as a UK festival exclusive

doubt he’s in the running headlining a stage at glasto, as perfect as west holts would be, due to it being recorded / broadcast and the money aspect

if it was going to happen, it would have happened by now. Field day will be opening a very large briefcase of cash.

i def wouldnt rule out an unannounced dj set again tho

I'm doing J2 on the Friday, anyone been before? looking at pictures from previous years looks like it is under a motorway overpass

Many times, it's great - usually have about five stages, four of which are not under the M4

Tale of Us are quite a lot bigger than anyone else IICON ever gets - they did 3 nights at printworks last year i think. Would be very cool though

Yeah, you're right. I must stop pitching unrealistic names!* But IICON is such a cool area. I appreciate their ethos though, keeping it more of a showcase for avant garde and underground artists.

Printworks is the perfect venue for ToU, especially with those huge vertical screens behind the stage.

* ok, one last one. As he's around, Aphex Twin. Just imagine that twisted soundscape in that field. Total mindbender.

I'd be well up for a bit of ToU on IICON. Bit 'poppier' than my usual, but oh what a great crowd there would be for that...not sure I see the Block9 gang keen though...they're Arcadia or nothing, I guess.

On which note, Arcadia - what are we thinking? Surely the Spider has had its last dance on the Farm? I know there's a lot of ill-feeling about their commercial decisions and affiliations, but assuming they're there, what animatronic behemoth is coming? If the Spider were to come back, at least bring Mum. That tiddly one was...tiddly!

did you see they purchased a sea king helicopter ?. not sure if that will be ready this year or not ? or if we get one more year of the spider .. or if they've burnt bridges with the trip to the world cup

Yeah, Arcadia is a strange one. They probably think there'll be enough water under the bridge come June and Qatar 2022 will be a distant memory for most. GFL didn't exactly unequivocally distance themselves from Arcadia's involvement over there, did they?

Beyond that though, the spider has clearly had its day. At Glastonbury, at least. Last year was very much a damp squib. The smaller version has much less impact and the sound levels were poor. Lots of people enjoy Lords of Lightning too, so they were a miss.

I hope they come up with something new and innovative, worthy of Arcadia innovations of the past. I'm not holding out a great deal of hope though, buying defunct cranes and helicopters doesn't inspire too much, but we'll see. If not, I'd love to see a form of "indoor" structure, allowing the likes of Prydz to more effectively showcase something like Holo or EPiC. Lots of festivals around the world have them. Yuma at Coachella, Steelyard at Creamfields, Freedom Stage at Tomorrowland, etc. Whether Glastonbury has the space, I'm not sure?

I think an indoor hanger stage would be great but its just a different thing to Arcadia. would be great to sort out Silver Hayes with one

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
