Rock Werchter 2015

What makes these bands likely for Rock Werchter?

Didn't Interpol do it last year? I'd say they were nailed on for Pukkelpop if anything.

Its more like a pool of options, but most of them have gigs around RW dates and are RW material. Interpol were there last year but there are repeats every year.

Can't see Interpol playing, more than likely at the August fests like pukkelpop/reading/sziget etc etc.

They are on the list just because they are playing at NorthSide festival 2 weeks before RW. Besides that right now on their schedule there are European dates in January &February and then that date at June. Will they do two months of touring in the summer? Edited by e2p2

Do Denmark have any festivals in August Interpol could play? They played Roskilde last year So Northside was the natural place for them to play

Interpol did a fair few fests last year in June/July so would be repeating alot of fests if they did the same.

Seems logical they will hit the August/September festivals.

Although I'm trying to convince myself they will do August, as I won't be doing any big festivals in June/July.

Well Denmark has SmukFest in the beginning of August, which is big enough for Interpol. However, SmukFest seems to be more popish hence Northside seems to be the obvious choise.

Doesn't sound too far off to me. I can see them already doing Europe in May (Primavera, for instance) and then returning halfway June for some American dates.

Same goes for Black Keys, they've basically done every major fest in late June/early July, and not every festival is as keen on repeating headliners as RW is.

I would imagine Interpols summer goes a little something like this:

Primavera

Primavera Porto

Citadel

Northside

*some dates in Italy in between* (only got Milan on this tour)

Eurockennes

Volt

T

Melt
Latitude
Longitude

Paleo
Superuho

Oya

Way Out West

Flow

Off
Summer Well (it's named after one of their songs after all!)

Pukkelpop

Lowlands

Rock En Seine

Reading

Leeds

Now I don't know, that's an semi-educated guess based on what's happening, and Interpol's popularity, what they've done in the past and what The National did last summer.

Someone mentioned Interpol and that's why they're on the list. The list wasin't made after some scientific research, it's just bands people in here have come up with and thought were likely to play RW. If Interpol is unlikely to play, just update the list ;)

If we look at some smaller acts I find the Danish act MØ very likely. She has just grown bigger and bigger in the recent years in Denmark and also on a international scale. And Werchter seems to like Danish acts, at least if you look at the previous years:

2012: Agnes Obel

2013: Volbeat

2014: Trentemøller, Agnes Obel

So I would add MØ to the list. Maybe she could play Klub C or something?

Should we count on Iggy and Royal Blood as well?

I wouldn't count on them, but I can see Royal Blood being a repeat what with how big they've become since.

there is if they want to sell those just-announced shows. ;)

Would sales in UK and Ireland have that much of an impact in Belgium and Holland? The majority will choose a convenient gig for them, so I'd have thought they could announce them for the festivals with little-to-no loss of sales for any shows.

I'd guess there'll be other Europe shows to still be announced.

I'm definitely set for Rock Werchter again this year so the Edinburgh show is not an option. Foo's are a must see next year so need to decide if I want to get tickets for Manchester or Sunderland. I know they're extremely likely for Werchter but I want a definite lol.

That is true. In RW case, it will sell out again so I think they'd be safe anyway. I only see France/Spain/Italy and then Eastern Europe as having no shows announced so far, guess just have to play the waiting game.

Unless you know something we don't!
