Do you actually like the lineup?

If you're going or not going

share your honest opinion about the full lineup.

It can be a sentence or a paragraph. Whatever your opinion share it.

if you're going, why? and if you're not, why?

Mine:

I feel the lineup has some decent acts to see, friday and saturday are heavy but the sunday is rather weak. I also feel that it doesn't know who it is appealing to, there's abit of everything but I feel abit that there's too much of everything. I'd say they did their best with what they could book, but there are too many bands they could of booked / worked in that would make the lineup a bit better.

Surely this conversation isn't too divergent of the 2014 lineup one?

It's a remaster of what he says every week in that thread.

Whenever someone says "lineup is shit" in the 2014 thread there's always some sort of huge argument with people thumbing down comments

also this thread allows com to talk about how werchter was better.

Anyway, instead of just shooting down the thread:

No. Because:

1) It has Blink on it.

2) Blink have a high slot.

3) Blink exist.

4) Coheadliner bollocks.

5) Not a single half-decent sub.

6) Only one band on the mainstage across all 3 days I'd go see a gig for (as opposed to watch at a fest).

7) Isn't everyone bored of Blink yet?

8) Actually, wasn't everyone bored of Blink 10 years ago?

9) No good headliners on the other stages.

10) Most of the bands with a back catalogue still aren't credible acts, seriously, Papa Roach and The Kooks?

11) Fuck any festival that thinks booking Blink as headliners only 4 years after the last time is a good idea.

It's a solid lineup but not enough of the acts that push you into paying £200+ for.

Back on topic; Werchter is a great lineup if you want to tick massive bands off a list. If you want a bit of variety or to check out new music then it's not really that good. It's topheavy as fuck.

I agree. I did it a while ago and had a great time and saw lots of big acts and a few small/mid size ones I wanted to catch, but it it definitely top heavy. They also repeat acts quite a lot so I'd say it's a great experience to do once or twice, not every year.

Nah, tbh I agree with what you're both saying. It's a good festival - nicely laid out and cheap as shit for what kind of calibre of acts you're getting (I worked out if the cost of going to see PJ at MK Bowl was the equivalent of over half of what I paid for Werchter). I'd recommend it as a festival but I must admit the lineup would have to be stellar to have me back as I did miss seeing so many smaller acts that I love.

I like the lineup.

Its probably the worst of the three I'll have been to though.

There are some lovely little smaller actsa but I do worry about the direction we're going in with the subs and such. Whilst I agree Leeds isn't becoming more V there's certainly a depressingly big decrease in rock acts each year.

To be fair I saw a couple of bands I wouldn't have seen elsewhere that I thought were great, Reignwolf, Stromae, Triggerfinger, though I think the latter two are really big in Belgium, Stromae especially

Do agree with the topheavy/massive bands off a list thing as well though, but I hadn't seen any of the headliners before, and I'd only seen I think 5 of the other acts that I went to see again, so it was a really good lineup for me

To be honest I love it. Yeah there are some rubbish bands playing high slots but there is always something for me to see. It also has some of my favourite bands on QOTSA, Shikari, letlive, The Wonder Years, Every Time I Die and A Day To Remember are just a few of the acts I want to see. There are some many acts I want to see that there will be clashes everywhere and honestly it is my favourite UK festival line up this year and it suits me down to the ground.

An actual answer to the question, I am going but only because I've managed to get a £40 ticket from a friend. There are no big acts, bar Queens, that I care about enough but there are plenty of smaller acts I love but they're all the sort of acts you'd be paying £6-15 for one of their own shows.

I think most on here already know how I feel about the line up. In fact most already know how everyone feels about it as it's been discussed to death in the 2014 thread.

Still, top marks to Matt for spinning the same shit in another thread :)

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
