Brave Sir Robin
Carrying around your butts in a little tin all day??? Are you mental??? Bit like turning up at Fukushima with a dust pan and brush. Just relax and have a smoke for fucks sake, just like you would at any other festival on Earth. CaledonianGonzo
Yeah, I mean which smokers actually carry a tin or other container on them?? Oh, all of them. It's not a hardship at all and it doesn't interfere with smoking or relaxing.
Klyde
If its such a big issue then why doesnt Eavis get some cigarette bins dotted around the place? Whats next? Hold in your shit until you get home? Hop on one leg to reduce footfall on the grass?
CaledonianGonzo
That's exactly what it's like.
dan273
Bought a couple of portable ashtrays for about a quid before the festival, didn't drop a single butt. it didn't put me out at all, i don't think there's any excuse its just lazy. Keithy
I just used an old mint tin and carried that around. Emptied it in the bins as I went by. Easy peasey.
progue
Some people throw crisp packets on the floor in smoking areas. Some people throw fag ends on the floor. Considerate people throw both in a suitable bin.

A Guy Called Matt
HMV was on a one woman mission at Glastonbury - enjoyed watching her accost a chap at Parquet Courts for just dropping fag butts onto the ground. Shame more people didn't pull people up on it.

Guest
I really don't think the whole 'considerate people' thaaang is really helpful to be honest. You might also say that considerate people wouldn't be stupid enough to smoke in the first place, give the blindingly obvious health risks. I really don't understand why people get so pious about these sorts of things. Stubbing fag butts out on the floor is what pretty much everyone just does...and if there's no obvious bins, ash trays OR in your face signs or posters telling you not to do it, then both considerate and inconsiderate people will put them out on the floor. Simply being ignorant about one particular thing at one particular time does not make someone an inconsiderate person.
LondonTom
then it seems a bit unfair to be overly critical of those people who essentially know no better.
gizmoman
I'm sure not all smokers are weak-minded selfish morons, but plenty of them are, there's not a day goes by that i don't see a driver throw a lit tab end out of a car window. As progue says, that just what people do, they don't even think it's wrong.

Aragorn
I carried round one of my empty cigar tins, filled it up then deposited as and when. Rinse and repeat

Klyde
Okay I am massively confused. Why would "cigarette bins" dotted around the place change the habit of people who are already too cun*ish to chuck their cigarette butts in the regular bins which are fuc*ing everywhere?? How about taking responsibility for your own fuc*ing rubbish maybe - not expecting other people to constantly wipe your own ass for you? And yes, this is entirely about people being inconsiderate. Throwing any type of rubbish on the floor, no matter where you are is inconsiderate. If you need to be told that, you're an inconsiderate prick. Mr.Tease
I just took a small empty centrum pot with a lid and put my cig ends in there, emptying them into the bin when full. I seem to remember one year they handed out pouches that you could use, but that may be a false memory- might of been given it in a city centre or something. gizmoman
When I smoked this mindset used to annoy me. if someone chucks rubbish out of a car, noone says non-smokers litter the roads, but a nob head throws an empty packet or a butt end and people say I saw a smoker throw his rubbish away. Nobheads litter, regardless of their chosen form of cancer. People just don't notice the smokers who use their car ashtrays. I see someone throw rubbish out of their car every day I'm driving, the most common of which is fast food packaging, not tobacco related. Klyde
Do people walk around with their butts in a little box at other festivals? Or is it just special treatment for the magical la la land of Glastonbury?
