Sounds good, but where do you get cranberries this time of year? I make homemade cranberry sauce each year for Christmas, but have to wait until November for the shops to have them.

I usually put a bag of cranberries in the freezer at Christmas, then you can make cranberry sauce all year round :)

How about strawberry gin? I made some last year. Fresh strawberries, chop them up, pop them in the gin for a few days and shake the bottle every time you walk past it! It was lovely. Went really well with lemonade. I'd imagine you could do similar with vodka and a variety of fruit!

Anyone got any suggestions for homemade spirit flavours? Need an idea that's not too sweet (no skittles or mars bars), but some thing I can mix with coke or lemonade on site for a nice cold drink. On the coach this year, so crates of cider aren't practical.

Sour apple sweets.

Have you got a dishwasher?

Good nearly afternoon folks.

Good morning seems almost inappropriate...

Why does work keep getting in the way of fun....

Wotcha, folks.

So, traditionally, the equation for how I choose my single, annual festival has included my shift pattern. I would usually gravitate towards one of my favourites that sits easiest within my projected work pattern, as swapping out loads of shifts in a week, in order to free oneself up is a real ballache.

My mate just emailed us the rota for 2016. And, predictably given my almost unsustainable levels of GF2015 excitement, next year's Glastonbury (assuming it's 22-26 June) falls in the worst possible week of my 6-week rolling shift pattern.

So, before even breaking my GF duck, I'm already fretting about next year! I'm vacillating between thinking just how I could swap the swaps I need to swap in order to free that week up, and looking at other possible festival alternatives. Mental.

The only sensible course is to go to Glastonbury, live it, see if I could ever enjoy any other festival 'peoperly' again, and then make a plan.

I know that I'm almost certainly deluding myself that there will be a rational decision to make after my experience in June...

...it's just that those swaps really are a pain in the arse! More than likely that chore will pale into insignificance against the need to ensure I am at least available to try for a ticket in October!

Eeek

Not a nice dilemma to have.....................................

From my limited experience I would say the following.

If I had a proper job where I had to book holiday/switch shifts etc to get time off I would book GF off as soon as I was humanly able to do so.

I would then say sorry to the ticket gods for presuming and praise them every day until T/Day in October.

Hi again!

Finally sat down for lunch after a busy few hours, so able to catch up. Thanks for all the booze suggestions, hadn't thought of frozen fruit. Jeffie, we have got a dishwasher, but I don't think Mrs G would be keen on sour apple. Hoping to find things we'll both like, so fruit is probably going to be the way to go (1 of my 5 a day, right? :) ).

Lucy, I usually make quite a big batch of cranberry sauce (3 or 4 packs of cranberries), so I only have to clean the purple splatters off the kitchen walls once a year!

Ben, start the wheels moving now for time off next year, I guarantee you'll be hooked!
