DomDom1984
Nowt wrong with them when talking about their actual music. Not exactly as big as other sub-headliners going about though.
kurtwba
So whats everyone's bet on the final headliner? i'll put my money on The Strokes.
Gucci Piggy
Kasabian
kingcrawler
If it is The Strokes/Kasabian for the final headliner, then that's a pretty strong top 6 by IOW's standards.
dentalplan
Gets said a lot but both parties might just be waiting for the Kasabian tour to wrap up for the announcement - if there's a reason they're holding it back. If they announced on Monday I'd still say Kasabian though.
kurtwba
I wouldn't complain if either headline, either of them will make it a strong set of headliners but has anyone seen the strokes live? if so what are they like?
the wonderwhy
Could be The Script, if they really have had to cut back a bit for Fleetwood Mac. Pharrell is supporting them in Ireland around the same time I think. Doubt they'll have two 'bump-ups' in the same year though.
DomDom1984
I reckon The Script will be doing something in June/July, and I'm still thinking that they're a potential T headliner.
dentalplan
They're massive in Ireland and that's why they headline stadiums there. That'll never happen here and both of the subs announced for IOW are bigger.
the wonderwhy
They're undoubtably bigger in Ireland but they're still pretty huge over here. Subbed last year so makes sense for them to move up next time they play.

Subbed last year so makes sense for them to move up next time they play. They've been roughly at that level for ages though. Would have to pull off something quite special to make the move up - in fact you'd have expected that to happen when he was on telly every Saturday night. DomDom1984
Sold out two nights in Glasgow so far and most of their UK tour in the spring. They're pretty big right now.

Very very dull. Boring. They were just about my favourite band when I saw them, and I didn't enjoy it much at all. I think seeing them live lead to me not listening to them all that much any more. Same thing happened with The Black Keys.
daniel.k
Doubt they'll have two 'bump-ups' in the same year though. Not really a bump up as he didnt play the last few years, but could Ed Sheeran headline the saturday? Has the fan base as he sold out Wembley at least 2 maybe 3 nights along with hos tour. He might not be as expensive as other more seasoned headliners as it would be his first major one to my knowledge, so could be almost a bump up
ClareAndy
Looking forward to The Prodigy at the IOW again. Bumped into Keith Flint at Brands Hatch a couple of years ago. He wanted to talk about motorbikes, I wanted to talk about music. Anyway what a nice bloke he is in the flesh.

Big in Glasgow as well as Ireland? Shocker. Although that might add to their status at T as you said. However I can't see them being big enough with festival crowds any time soon to headline. Sheeran recently said he'd rejected IOW and also IOW don't book headliners with the big (assuming bigger than the O2) London shows. The 'more rock less pop' statement would fall down with either of those acts too I guess.

atomised
Also, didnt the IOW organiser dismiss ed sheeran as dull fairly recently
Gucci Piggy
The 'more rock less pop' statement would fall down with either of those acts too I guess. Especially with Pharrell and Paolo already subbing. I'd be very surprised if it's a poppy headliner.
pete76
new acts added today: Billy Idol, COUNTING CROWS, Kool and the Gang, Jessie Ware, Kodaine, You Me At Six and few others
kingcrawler
http://www.nme.com/news/kasabian/81777 Would this make Kasabian less likely given John Giddings not wanting to book acts doing big London gigs? Not confirmed or anything, but I can see it happening.

kurtwba
I'm off to IOW for the first time next year the only other festival i've went to is reading can someone tell me what to expect at IOW what are the crowds like in comparison to reading? dentalplan
Just perusing the IOW forums and apparently Giddings ruled out Kasabian nearly a month back on Facebook. I don't have access to his Facebook page but could anyone verify that? Surprised as I thought they were nailed on. Green Day are being bandied about quite a bit. Maybe the delay is due to replacing them or seeing what happens with them regarding the touring guitarist's illness. Though I think if they were touring in June they'd stopping by at a few more festivals that have already announced their headliners.
