Still can't believe they moved werchter just to book the foo fighters. Mental.

I can kind of understand it as no doubt they will do the late summer festivals next year. People expected a ACDC or similar legendry band but they get a band around more or less every year.

Not a very inspiring one at that.

Is there going to be any rock metal tests in July next year. Hellfest is too close to Download for my work and liver really. Soni would have been perfect but they would appear to have fucked it up again. What chance Scorpions on 2nd at Download? :)

Very slim I'd say. Don't think their egos would allow anything less than headlining main.

It wasn't a question I needed an answer to :) Don't get me wrong, I really like the Scorpions and I'm off to Brussels to see them next week (again) but their behaviour last year was ridiculous. I can't see them playing a major fest here ever again.

They're at that Ramblin' Man Fair at the end of July. Not very metal though. There are smaller ones on the continent in July that are headlined by the likes of Motorhead and Judas Priest and stuff. Probably gonna be some big outdoor shows along the line like AC/DC or GNR if you like them.

I really can't see that Ramblin' Man thing going ahead. Pretty sure they'd have got more cash for headlining 2nd at Download too :)

I would imagine that I shall have to attend both ACDC and GNR shows. I mean, it would be rude not to wouldn't it?

You do have to wonder why they'd think themselves too big to headline 2nd at a huge fest but happy to headline [what I imagine to be] a much smaller fest in Ramblin' Man. A bit like thinking you're too good to be on the bench at Tottenham and turning out for Brentford instead.

Big GNR shows make sense if they're supposed to be touring next summer but there's nothing to prove it yet so might not happen. AC/DC will happen though. I would hope to go see them too if it's the last chance - seems great fun.

Wouldn't it be bant if Muse just fished Copping by saying the new album is heavy and they would play Agitated and all that stuff? Instead they could play Madness, Undisclosed Desires and Guiding Light. Just for a laugh.

Be more funny if muse cancelled and bullet for my Valentine came in to replace them.

Quite like the idea of Muse, Faith no more and ADTR as a top three. Add in parkway drive on second stage and it would be Beaut!

From reading these forums, it's quite clear that download's headliner pool is quite small. They've got some great bands to choose from but not as many as reading and Glasto. Do you think them getting muse opens up some doors for them? Or were muse always in download's sights?

Muse have been on Andys wanted list for a long time.

Theres two reasons why its happening in 2015

1 - Muse have played every other festival in the UK and headlined. Glasto, V, Reading, TITP, theres nothing really left for them to experience there.

2 - Artistic choice, they want to play rock festivals this forthcoming tour, its what they've gone for with this new album, will open up their fanbase even more and be a new experience for them. Its weird that Muse are and always have been a rock band and were popular before Download even existed yet its taken 13 downloads to get them there, despite Andy trying in the past.

Andy has spoken saying hes opening up the headline acts pool, because he knows Metallica, Maiden, AC/DC etc wont be around in 10 years [im sure he said 10 years] I do wonder though after Muse have got this out their system would they want to come back and play again? Kinda like Radiohead at V, it was something they wanted to do, they approached V, but I can't see them ever back there.

Its pretty cool anyway that Muse still want to play festivals, they don't need to play them, they're big enough to do stadiums every year.

I can't believe people are moaning on facebook about muse. It's a great booking, and something away from the normal pool of headliners.

What's wrong with these people? They moan if download roll out repeat headliners and then moan if they announce something a bit different.

This is shaping up to be a stunning line-up

    • 1 - Mock Media - Rat Bastard 2 - Maquina - Body Transmission 3 - Mary in the Junkyard - Role Model Hermit   Honourable mentions to The Hu - Hun, Madonna - Confessions II, and Swapmeet - Mount Zero for also being solid.   Sadly, really didn't connect with the new Yard Act, a real shame as loved their last two albums and thought this one would be a shoe-in for AOTM, but felt it was a bit too generic..
