Last year, the 'stand by yer beds' tweet had already been posted by this time before the initial announcement. If Neil doesn't hint at having received the press release by about 3/4, I'm gonna say it'll be next week.

The ones i can see: Billy Lockett, Darlia, Murdo Mitchell, Propeller, Lil Silk, Chemna.

I've just had some interesting chats with some well-connected people who've phoned me to ask if there's an announcement tonight - and no one has any info that there is, and no one seems to think that if there was, (just) bands like these would be the ones saying that it was coming.

I've seen or heard nothing, and that's apparently the case in all of medialand.

How far in advance were you emailed about the first announcement? I know you said but i've forgot sorry

I knew nothing of that one in advance. The first I knew about it was when the missus woke me up after hearing it on the radio.

However, if I'd have been checking my email, I'd have known about it at around 8.30pm the night before, when someone fairly random (but that we already knew got good info) mailed in to say he'd heard it was happening.

I've put a few feelers out, and hopefully I'll get something back in the next few hours which will give a good indication either way.

Personally, I still reckon next week - but that's purely a guess.

The shangri la Facebook page leading with 'Not ,meant to give to much away but heres the amazing BAr Of IDeas line ups' as some stated shows they have the line-up but were not supposed to give anything out yet!

Thats proberbly the smallest stage in Shangri La aswell!

Damn. Suppose its unlikely that it would be happening without media types and Neil being informed first.

that's not necessarily true.

However, given Metallica's history, I wouldn't be surprised if the first real noises of an impending announcement come from around them - they seem to like letting a select few in on their secrets a day or so before any announcement of theirs (and I'm pretty confident that nothing of that has happened as yet, tho I can't be 100% on that).

I'd say it's looking pretty likely that it will be tonight.

It "feels" a bit like the afternoon before the 6music announcement - and the people usually "in the know" didn't seem too confident that the original announcement was coming at that stage either.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
