Not tried flavoured gin yet, might give it a go. Made lemon sherbet ouzo last year! Made it palatable, but was deadly! Messed me right up on the Wednesday last year and didn't make the cider bus meet as a result!

I made flavoured vodka in 75 minutes last year.

Seen some people said mixing flavoured vodka with Sprite / lemonade..

What's the consistency of this like? Would the vodka / sweet mixture not be too thick to mix with the lemonade? Or would you mix using a large amount of vodka so the sweets are evenly dispersed throughout yet keeping the same consistency of the vodka?

Just wondering..might try one of these this year

I think that if your vodka ends up "thick" then you're doing it wrong

I've never done it before so don't know what to expect!

I just assumed the suggary, hard boiled confectionary mixed with the vodka would make an alcoholic, syrupy concoction :sarcastic:

Right all this talk has got me in the mood for some flavoured vodka - and as it's a long weekend, why not?!

It'll probably be rhubarb and custard boiled sweets again because it's a fans favourite but I'll keep an eye on it and let you know for definite how long it takes. Might even post a picture to show off it's pinky orange, non syrupy consistency!

I've done a fresh strawberry (which looks glorious, but doesn't really taste of very much to be honest) and three boiled sweets - pineapple cubes (meh) cola cubes (great) and rhubarb and custard (bloody marvellous). I bunged them in whole, and flipped the bottle around once or twice a day - they were gloopy as hell by day 3, and completely dissolved in a week. They're 4 weeks gone now and I've got to sieve em with a tea strainer, and pop them into plastic bottles of course - but it's very easy, and I fully encourage everyone to give it a bash. If you're camped near me, chances are I'll try and get you to have one with me

I made rhubard and custard vodka last year and it was lovely. I bought a kilner jar (£1.50) and poured in the vodka then just gradually added the sweets a few at a time over the course of a few weeks, gave it a shake then added more once the last lot had disolved. Depending on how many sweets you add it will thicken slightly and go a bit syrupy but its still liquid enough to easily mix it with juice.

My other favourite is the Hairy Bikers recipe for Christmas vodka, takes a bit more effort but its worth it.

1 x 24 can tray of Rev James

1 x 24 can tray of London Pride

1 x flask of whisky (not sure which)

Various pints from around the site, especially Wednesday and thursday.

I thought about bringing loads of similar cans but how do you manage to keep them cool/ drinkable? Edited by zico martin

Mate of mine made jelly babies flavoured vodka, he said he put them in the bottle of vodka and then put the bottle in the dishwasher, anybody tried this method? Does it work?

The missus tried our first vodka with a mixture of skittles and cinnamon pods. I'll do the next one I think!

Never sure about the quantity of sweets to put in a bottle of vodka, is it just trial and error?

I use the 200g bags of boiled sweets you can pick up at most supermarkets in a 70cl bottle of vodka and it works great. Never done skittles because I can't be arsed with filtering etc and don't really like them anyway.

I may have to try this dishwasher thing!

Me too. sounds ace. can see it going seriously wrong though!! I was wondering does it have to be gordens etc gin, or would like Aldi's own brand be ok? Pretty excited about giving this a go now.

I think it's just personal preference. I'm going to see if I can pop round to my folks to borrow their dishwasher!!! I really hope I don't blow it up....!

There's a lot of faffing about being talked about on this thread ... seriously guys it's not rocket surgery!

Get some vodka ... put some stuff in it ... that's it.

No need to put it in the dishwasher, no need to sterilise the bottles (unless it's with some vodka), no need for spells, incantations or any other "healing field" mumbo-jumbo (gawd bless their fairy hearts).

Any hard boiled sweet will completely dissolve in a couple of days and it will taste love-er-lee ... nom nom nom. Anything spongy, gooey, wobbly or squidgy will make the vodka likewise spongy, gooey, wobbly or squidgy. if this isn't your desired outcome don't use said ingredient.
