I suppose the confusion exists as some say he will not sign one while others say he has refused them.

I've not seen either of those things myself. Where have you seen them?

The only thing I've seen is that he's not booked. You know, same as The Rolling Stones are not booked for this year, which means they're not playing.

The difference with Prince is that there's a suspicion - just a suspicion - that he might come back to Glastonbury at a later date and say yes (because it's not unheard of from him), but as far as I'm aware there is nothing to particularly suggest that he might do apart from the fact that he sometimes does.

Nothing official of course. Just the chatter all over the place based on his "history" and "form"

Do we even know 100% if he was asked for this year?

Yes, I know he's been asked and I know that he's not said either yes or no. I know this via someone who spoke with him when he was in the UK.

I also know that he knows almost nothing about Glastonbury.

Neil, do you still reckon Pixies aren't headlining the Other Stage?

I've no idea. It's getting hard to guess at who is where.

I too believe Metallica are the 'Special Guests', but if they were booked weeks ago, isn't it a bit suspicious that they've left the Sat night Other Stage headliner wide open?

they weren't booked weeks ago.

They might have verbally agreed weeks ago, but everything strongly suggests that it's only been fully signed up within the last few days - very probably only yesterday or the day before.

Because otherwise it doesn't make much sense to have made the announcement today, and not on Monday of this week.

Can I take that to mean "the numbers of people settling up are low"?

Not particularly, tho no doubt the paying-up part is in the mix.

I think - I don't know - that they've announced now because they have enough firmed up to feel able to announce, even tho that's meant not announcing something they have booked.

I suspect that Sonisphere have ok'd it, on the proviso that it doesn't potentially affect their sales - so it's all hushed up until after the deposits etc and resales (yeah, it's a sellout already, but it's got to be seen to be unavailable) and then it'll all be announced - there'll be a bit of hype - and then Sonisphere start a great big bit of promotion about Metallica playing just north of London and YOU can choose the set list. Makes sense for all parties.

the biggest boost for soni will come after M's glasto performance on TV.

Neil, is your hunch from a week or so ago that it could be FM now completely binned?

certainly looks like it, yeah.

That 'hunch' wasn't a hunch tho. It was me merely laying out that it looked like FM were back within what was possible to happen (as opposed to 'impossible'), because of John's recovering health.

PS: although if FM announce some UK dates in the next few weeks, that makes it possible that it might be a contract to do with them, and not Metalicca.

That's me covering all bases. Don't go reading too much into that, I'm not expecting that to happen.
