That won't get you a wife Howardg

Thank God!

I'm not going this year as i couldn't get a ticket :fie: so i sort of want it to be bad weather  .It's been very dry down there recently so the ground is hard so if it does rain it will be hard for the water to penetrate the surface so you get a thin layer of mud on a hard base which makes for very slippery conditions so i'd advise walking boots with a good tread on them.

Have a good time folks!

Thought I'd share a chat I had with one of the environment agency's meteorologists today. He specialises in floods and is a complete pessimist. Aware that the EA's track record hasn't been great this year but worth a punt! His view:

- Dry all Wednesday

- Light rain Thursday evening

- Rain all Friday

- Rain Saturday morning followed by sun

- Sunday dry and bright

Here's to hoping!

So considering he's a pessemist I'm going to change 'rain all friday' to 'a fairly heavy shower around 1pm and some drizzle with intermitent sun afterwards'

Cool I'll take it.

Just out curiosity, how much rain came down on the Thursday last year in terms of MM?

That wasnt so bad, made it muddy Thursday but was fine by Friday dinner

About 10mm fell on the Thursday night last year I think.

But of course the glorious weather afterwards meant it dried up rather quickly. We won't have that this year so the ground will be very muddy unless we have some unexpected sun for a few hours.

Any scientists know whether the amount of water done away with by absorption down the way will compensate for a reduction in moisture removed by evaporation...?

For what its worth I have AcuWeather widget on my phone and they have been pretty spot on in terms of rain for the last few weeks.

Their forecast is

Wednesday: Parlty Sunny - Highs 20 / Lows 8

Thursday: Mostly Cloudy with a shower or two - Highs 21 / Lows 12

Friday: Variable cloudness with a shower - Highs 19 / Lows 10

Saturday: Mostly Cloudy with a couple of showers, chance of one being a thunderstorm - Highs 18 / lows 9

Sunday: Mostly Cloudy with a couple of showers, chance of one being a thunderstorm - Highs 18 / lows 9

Still guessing in terms on Saturday and Sunday by having the same forecast but I can take that. The odd shower doesnt bother me

Anyone 'not' taking wellies? I'm thinking about just taking my gaiters and walking boots.

Ive never taken wellies to a festival, including Leeds in 08 and 2011.

If the forecast is still showing rain I might chuck in some work boots but I generally just use my walking shoes

    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
    • A couple of OR's crew and band have posted Barcelona pics.   HYYPPPEEEEE
