certainly not within UK festivals he's not.

Band gets booked in every UK Festival vs Guy who never seems to play outdoor festivals in the UK

Hard to correlate and I really doubt Kasabian are such a huge festival draw that they sell out festivals, they are a cheap and safe booking comparatively to other headline grade bands, not to mention most traditional rock festivals are still too ascared to book a hip hop headliner.

Going by good old supply and demand, shouldn't that mean more people want to see Kanye? He should sell out the places he does play? Global Gathering and Big Chill aren't (or weren't, in the latter's case) the biggest of UK festivals by a long stretch and yet he sold out neither.

Never mind, those places are in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure that if he played somewhere big, like - I don't know - London or Birmingham, he'd sell them out instantly. Right? Oh wait...

No, it's easy to correlate. Cos it's not how you say, but instead this....

Band gets booked in every UK Festival and tickets sell very well vs Guy who has played a few outdoor festivals in the UK and t5ickets have sold very poorly.

But hey, instead of accepting those facts, just instead ignore the facts and we can have the deep discussion of the type Prince fans love.

Ack! Why do people get insnared in these arguments about whether acts are popular or not- who cares, it's whether they're any good or not that's important

Sorry, most of the time I'll avoid these arguments, but I feel Kanye is more talk over substance anyway.

In other words, I think he's both shit and unpopular. I just don't get it, he's ironically cool because he's a c**t? That's his thing?

Ha- I concur!

If kanye is ever gonna headline it would be this year. He is a lot bigger now than he ever has been. Also wireless has sold out on the day he's headlining so using the he-can't-sell-tickets argument is a bit invalid now I think.

Would love it if Kanye headlined, I'm a massive fan but wouldn't buy tickets to his own shows due to them being arenas full of herberts, or to Wireless due to it being a field full of herberts.

On a side note, the forum's bloody charming today isn't it? Something in the water?

but one of the measures for what people find good is popularity.

We got to discussing this part because someone suggested that it would be a no-brainer to bump Kasabian someone else in favour of Kanye because Kanye is the more popular act.

While in "everything" terms that might well be true for the UK, it's not true with UK festivals. The facts prove the case.

Seetickets suggest otherwise. On both nights he's headlining.

He sells pretty poorly stateside as well. I think he's popular with people that don't invest in live music.

Exactly this, I'm not really sure why.

I like that he cheeses people off with his big mouth. I've only heard Yeezus a couple of times, but it sounded pretty out there for a major release by a big mainstream artist. I'll take him over a dozen Kasabians or Killers.

If the fest has Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Kanye, Eagles, Dolly and Metallica all on the bill, then colour me impressed.

Wireless is a bit of a different beast tho. It's more like a gig than a festival in many respects; you turn up for the day then go home again.

Of course, Glasto doesn't actually need to sell its tickets on the basis of Kasabian or Kanye, so that might well have a bearing on how Glasto view things, but that's by-the-by really.

Cos (unless things have changed recently) Kasabian have been told they're headlining Sunday, and that's the only day Kanye could do.

It is of course possible that Kanye might be headlining another stage.

ah sorry i thought i'd read it had sold out.

his live shows are incredible and as a performer he is amazing.

i disagree with the idea that he is only popular with people that don't invest into live music because I invest heavily in it and he is one of the best people i've ever seen.

yes, people like you being morons towards me when I'm trying to have a sensible discussion, that is what's doing it.

FFS, put your moron head away and get back to reality. The only time I type like this is in response to a brain-dead comment like yours.

yeah I agree don't think glasto will be worrying about selling tickets and yeah, I think a lot of people that don't like the idea of an actual festival go to wireless.

I definitely think that kanye could pull it off and if he was going to ever do it then this would be his year.

But I think he would have to be on the pyramid.

a wet fart says something far more intelligent tho. ;)

I don't mind a bit of a rant if there's a character behind it, but when there's merely vacuously self-promotion to it I reckon that Kanye should spend a day cleaning the long drops to try and zoom him back to reality.

Yup basically, its all very odd but liking acts ironically seems to be in these days.

Good point, he has a few hit singles that are played in clubs mainly.

I hope he does headline the sunday, just so he can again prove that hardly anyone actually gives much of a shit about him.
