Addictive TV have just posted the following on FB:

Hi all! We can now officially announce we're playing Glastonbury Festival (official) 2014! We're playing the Shangri-La main stage at midnight on Saturday 28th June!

Then straight after on the same night, we're doing the main dance tent which is turning into a HUGE silent disco! And on Sunday at 3pm we perform Orchestra of Samples in the Greenpeace Dome!

Very happy about this, Mark Vidler aka Go Home Productions, does amazing mashups, and have heard good things about Addictive TV's AV show.

The sonic stage turns into a silent disco?

Yeah, You pick up some headphones for £10 deposit and when the silent disco is on you have 3 channels to flick between. If you get a good pair, you can listen to them quite a way across the site, which can be quite funny at about 4am midway between silver hayes and the rabbit hole for example

Ah I didn't know that I thought thete'd just be one silent disco down by the park stage.

The only time I've been a silent disco is at leeds where they had 2 channels where they'd just play random full songs from pretty much any genre on either channel.

Is it the same thing really at the sonic stage or is it actual djs doing proper sets?

Money For Rope are playing 2nd on the John Peel according to their manager after their Great Escape show last night. Can't remember what day though - we'd had a few drinks.

They're a lovely group of guys - really friendly and it was a great gig.

These boys are brilliant! One of my fave finds so far.

I think last year had one channel that was Indie Disco, another was something like 90's club classics. And the headphones light up different colours depending on what channel you are on so you can tell what channel other people are on and have a party with them.

On te Thursday last year when it first started to rain, the silent disco was on (just after lunchtime), and everyone piled in there to avoid the rain but the queue for headphones was horrendous. If you went to a late night one, there will be hardly any queue cos people will be in Arcadia or the naughty corner. Still busy enough to have a good night though.

Just remember when you are shouting in an attempt to talk to your mates, you sound ridiculous to the people who haven't got headphones on ;)

Although she's already on the poster, the date was not announced till now:

Suzanne Vega is (according to her homepage) playing the Acoustic on Sunday, 29th at 6.30pm

http://www.suzannevega.com/tour/

From the poster you would think Saturday headliner....looks like the line up could be any which way round at moment apart from the few confirmed headliners.

As she's playing in Truro on Saturday it was clear she'd be up on Friday or Sunday,

I'm happy with that, so finally found my headliner (?) for Sunday evening!

Australian purveyors of catchy pop-rock The Preatures self-confirmed on FB, and in the comments confirmed John Peel.

Added to the playlist. Annoyingly Spotify only has a remix of their biggest song, so here's the video:

Seen this band in Brisbane and cannot wait to see them at Glasto. They were really good live, and the lead singers a wee hottie. They have some other great tunes as well.

From Continental Drifts re Shangri La:

Once again were running Shangri- La , this eternal madness of 1000`s of artists performing for not very much to an audience more “up for it “ then Rio Carnival continues. This year we bring you over 14 micro venues, alongside acts so big we aren’t even allowed to say who, nestled next to the latest festival giants and acts from beyond the Mainstream .
Some of the highlights for us anyway include

Turtle Island Band from Japan

A Guy Called Gerald
Rudimental
and a whole Symphony of Glastonbury Bird Recordings to name a tiny few

Gives me hope that PH&JA could headline the Saturday, and that some of the other stages have bands listed in the wrong order too

    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...
