i'm possibly in the wrong section here.

apologies if it is.

just looking for some help

i'm hoping to try take my dad to glastonbury for his 50'th this year.

my big questions are how everyone thinks it would be for him with him being 50. he still goes to gigs and stuff so the music wouldnt be a problem.

my other question is probably unanswerable at the moment.

when does everyone think the resale will be?

any thoughts on numbers usually available. how easy or hard it is to actually get resale tickets ?

cheers for any help in advanced

If your Dad is in general decent health he'll be fine.

I take my Dad and he's 60 next year. Got 2 other guys over 50 in our group also, one of whom is 65 actually.

I'd hazards guess that about 10% of the audience are around the 50 year old mark or above, so don't be concerned.

Loads of people go under their own steam at around 50. We definitely do. I think there loads of us on this message board who are regulars of that age and older.

My mum was nearly 70 when I took her to her first one and she was fine!

I'm 64 and go with a gang mainly in their 60s. As long as he's OK with walking - you'll probably do a dozen miles a day - I can't see a problem.

The oldies often give the kids a run for their money, partying long after the youngsters are tucked up in bed.

We usually have an Efests Old Gits and Hags Meet at the Cider Bus and he'd be very welcome.

Guitarbhoy1888, you youngun`s do make me laugh :) TOO old at 50....... i bet your dad would have a right pop at you if he new you had asked that question...!

I`m 55 been going to festivals since 1976 and Glastonbury since 1981. We go in a big crowd from Glasgow and i`m not the oldest by some way, the youngest of our crowd this year was 18, with most in there 20`s -30`s.

Come the monday morning it`s always the older ones loading the roof rack on the minibuses.

As to resale chances it`s the same process really, as many devices and as many people as you can get trying for you DO remember though that a lot of the tickets in the resale will be as part of a package with coach ticket..... make sure everyone trying for you knows where is acceptable/not acceptable as a starting point.

good luck....... now i need to go and polish my zimmer frame.

My in laws came with us last year and renewed their wedding vows at the stone circle for their 30th anniversary... Both are in their 50s and both usually do a lower key festival each year, but wanted the Glasto experience for their special occasion!

They both have said since that by the Sunday they were finding it a bit hard going and probably wouldn't do the full Wednesday - Monday experience again but could do just the music days easy! You should defo bring your Dad!

He should definitely go. He won't be the oldest (let's not forget Mr E is the example here), so if he's fit he'll cope with the walking around the sit between bands, without forgetting the non-musical things to experience. He will blend in, no probs.

I'm 53 and have done the last two as a solo traveller with no problems whatsoever. As people have said you need to be reasonibly fit and also i guess not be phased by massive crowds and the fact that it may take forever to get from a to b ( or even c)
