Feck it!

It was a nice thought.............and like all of these rumors it wont 100% die until we 100% know! ;)

I hope its the Roses..........would love to see them strut their stuff at Glasto (Shit for TV but, as our singing cant drown out Ian Browns voice for those at home!)

That's what i think has happened. Robert Plant is playing and some people have got the wrong end of the stick and thought it was a LZ reunion.

nah, I don't think that's what's happened with what I've heard. I'm pretty sure that what I heard was really only guesswork based on very little, which is why I didn't place any faith in it in the first place.

Right, I can see that. Do you not get sick of the same old wishful thinking/ bullshit/ LZ/Prince/whoever year on year?

Yep, totally .... but it's normally the case that it's easy to identify them as just guesses, because of the context we often get along with words that have been said.

Neil if you were to throw your hat into the ring, who would you go with to headline the Sat and Sun? Or do you simply have no idea at the moment in time?

I was about to post Gaga - cos I know that some festies have been offered her for next year - but I just checked her tourdates and see she has US shows over Glasto weekend.

So I've got no idea, soz - just the weak rumoured stuff listed on the line-ups page.

That show will go fine. It's more of a question of what medical info John's been given. They'll play Glasto. Certain of it. All the noises are that he is doing well and should be fine. Tony Iommi sorted Sabbath dates after being far more ill than McVie was (though I know cancer is a bugger for bad surprises)...

I'm not. I heard word that they were refusing bookings for next year, and at the time I heard that the hints coming from Glasto was that no headliner had signed on the dotted line.

At the end of the day, I think it'll only happen if they - or particularly John - regard it as a "must play" show in the same way they seem to have done with the Las Vegas show in a couple of weeks.

Fair play, I guess they could pick and choose, but nothing will put them back in the collective UK consciousness like a Glasto show. It could be their last (though I hope it isn't) ever gig...

Sabbath cancelled a shedload, but always said they'd play Download as for metal fans in the UK, it's the pinnacle.

the difference to Sabbath, I think, is that FM don't really have anything to prove.

right, have done some further digging.....

Word I've had today - I've no way of knowing if it's right, and it's a repeat with more detail of what I heard previously - is that Arcade Fire are replacements for Fleetwood Mac.

Saturday is Led Zep, but if they won't do it it's Radiohead (but other info i've had is that from a different source is that Radiohead are not doing shows next year).

And Sunday is Prince.

As I've said, I don't believe the LZ or Prince parts of it (I always had more trust in the AF part, as that was presented to me as more certain - and is why they were strong rumoured for the Friday).

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
