I've never been to download but I think if sonisphere sorts it's shit out I would go again as I enjoyed it when I last went when Metallica/NIN/Machine Head were there and I think even if they go for someone like Metallica, QOTSA, NIN, Pearl Jam that'll get me their. With those headliners it wouldn't have to just be a metal fest as those sort of bands can play reading so they can change it up a bit and steal people from R&L and Download. It could be a less heavy download or less indie R&L which would be a great inbetween for me

Well it was sort of where they were before, the cancelled line-up just looked like they were picking up acts that Download and R&L didn't want or had already recently had (FNM, Manson, Incubus, Evanescence, etc.). I think they'd do well identifying acts that don't quite sit well with Download and R&L and while they'd book them wouldn't necessarily give them great slots - a band like Pixies headlining the second stage would be a good booking, especially if they're carrying on the 'no clashes' set-up.

I agree with everyone that Sonisphere really has the chance to bury Download this year, although I plan on going to both. But I do hope Sonisphere brings out some real heavyweight headliners, such as; AC/DC or Sabbath, or Metallica- although I do agree it'd be nice for a new Metallica album to come out before another Festival appearance. Personally I'd love Foo's, AC/DC and Tool to headline, as I think that's a really cool mix of genres and will definitely shift tickets, how manageable or realistic it is, well that's another matter. Either way, I'm massively excited for the announcement and am even more excited for the first of many annual pilgrimages to Knebworth! (I hope).

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
