Love the latest album, probably the best thing they've ever done. But, as I understand it, they're not going to tour in support of it. Wether that rules them out of festivals next year or jus tthe opposite, means they'll do a few festival appearances instead of a full tour, I've no idea, but I urge you to give that last album a shot. Way better than I expected.

not that fussed about seeing them live, to be honest, can't see how they'd replicate that last album in a concert. Dunno. Think their future might be as a studio project.

I know it's not the same as being there but every time I've seen them play a live show on TV they looked dreadful, like the band were dead behind the eyes and just going by the motions.

Maybe it was because they followed Pulp at Reading, but watching them on the telly that year was quite dull.

Hopefully they'd put on a decent show, one of the bands I'd like to see and haven't yet!

'cause it was basically just a Julian Casablancas solo album with the Strokes name on it, and was a bit weird / shit

i've never been able to get behind The Strokes. always thought they were dull as dishwater and incredibly overhyped, but i suppose they'd make a good Other headliner. never played Glastonbury surprisingly so i guess they're due

edit: actually i jumped the gun there. i remember actually quite enjoying the new album. nothing mind blowing but a nice change from their usual sound (which i've never been able to get behind. always found them rather boring)

Weren't we mooting the idea that "the 5 biggest acts" would not necessarily be headlines, and could be the biggest acts for other slots (e.g. Sunday legend).

I'd say The Strokes would be one of the biggest acts that could possibly headline the Other Stage, they also let Eavis down for the Pilton Party in 2001...

i very much doubt The Strokes are one of Eavis' 'big 5'. what a cop out that'd be: "and the first of my biggest acts we've managed to nab who've not yet played Glastonbury is.. The Strokes! yeah guys! we got The Strokes!"

You do raise quite a good point actually, that tour of theirs in 2011 just seemed like a complete money grab, don't think they cared where they were on lineups

I'll still hold on hope though, i think they would be perfect other stage headliners

I think Comedown Machine is one of the best albums released so far this year. I listen to it all the time and think Tap Out and Welcome to Japan are two of the best songs The Strokes' have ever created.

Have seen them live three times and loved it, and would be thrilled to have them play Glastonbury next year.

Give me The Strokes, Kasabian and The National next year and I'm sorted

Easily in the top tier of rock n roll bands in the world. Saw them headline Roskilde a couple of years ago and they absolutely killed it. Must have been 2011.
