BT broadband worked for me this year.

Last year was the only time my wife was able to get the booking page up instead of me and she was VPN'd in to a very fast internet service. She tried that route again this year and didn't get a sniff.

Really is luck of the draw and timing of refresh. That said, multiple browsers might help (and might not as they'll all share the same IP address). Multiple machines and using different ISPs is probably the only real way to increase your chance of success and of course creating a group of 6 of you all trying different routes in.

I used Sky BB on my laptop and got on to the holding page once through Chrome. As soon as See sorted the initial problem, my iphone got straight on to the holding page through my 3 3G and by 9:40 I was through to the booking page. Only time I've been thankful to my Three data package since the signal is pretty poor.

Really it is just luck. Last two Glastonbury's a friend had always got through on her super fast broadband. Every time she was convinced it was because of how fast her connection was. Guess what, this year she didn't even get close.

It is just all by luck.

I too found it odd that on my phone 3g (Giffgaff) i could consistently sit at the refreshing page, whereas on the wifi I could occasionally get to the refresh page but would more often than not crash out of it repeatedly.

Not saying there's a conspiracy but it was a confusing occurance, ended up focusing on my phone because it seemed to have a much better chance.

Absolute rubbish about the 3G connections being down to luck.

The first attempt at connected via my phone through 3G hit the holding page, I then get the booking page after a couple of minutes.

Too many people reporting the same for it to be coincidence.

I guess the DSN servers on the 3G networks weren't being overloaded as bad as on the wired networks.

I got through on 3 browsers on PC, but nowhere near on 3G. Does this mean my 3G was throttled? No, it means my PC was lucky and my phone wasn't.

We did land on the moon and Elvis is dead.

But JFK wasn't killed by LHO, to be fair.

It was a fresh session attempt, that's all.

apart from the fact that for many of those who were successful with their PCs experienced the exact same thing - to the extent that many could get thru again and again while others like.

There's shit loads of "patterns" which makes them not patterns. The only reason that you're focused on the idea that something different was going on was because you won't accept how luck works and wish to believe yourself somehow special.

It's luck, it's nothing special.

It is just luck.

That said, it would be interesting to see the geographical spread of ticket success, i.e. were people from large cities (with faster broadband) able to connect more quickly (and get more sets of tickets) than people in rural areas?

It would also be interesting to hear whether ANYONE got through on the phone :)

    • Kind of crackers how fast this summer seems to be sailing by. But aye, must be some news soon!
    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
