From the FYF poster Matt posted in the other thread, it looks like The Strokes might be having a proper go of 'reuniting' rather than just the hometown shows.

So it seems like we could have some popular bands in Foos, Muse, G'n'R, Kasabian, Chilis, Strokes, Metallica and the Stone Roses doing new album tours. Could be a strong year.

I think Soni need to get someone like Muse or Foos to stop them just being a carbon copy of Download again, because that's ultimately where they fucked up last time.

Done an alright job with mixing up the undercard this year, just need to do it with the headliners too.

EDIT: Not arguing with them being expensive, but there's no way they could cost more than Metallica, Iron Maiden and The Prodigy combined.

That would have been a smart direction to take, but if you look at this year's headliners then it's obvious they haven't.

I reckon they'll have Slipknot while they're too recent for Download and Guns N' Roses while no other fests will touch them. Download will end up with Metallica and two others like BFMV and someone else shit and still win out massively because of Metallica.

I guess that's an exaggeration but they are supposed to be notoriously expensive.

Not sure why but I can see them and Muse vying for the same marquee spots at festivals like IOW and Glastonbury. Not so much Download and Soni.

Hope Muse do Glasto. Wanna see them.

If Sonisphere got Slipknot, Queens Of The Stone Age and System Of A Down (if they tour, but they probably wont) it be great! :D

But they do need to change next year or it going to go down the same path as it did last time. Would be a bit controversial but getting Foals to headline (or something similar) would be the right direction in my opinion

Foals would literally have no crossover at all with anyone at Soni.

If they want to move away from Download they should have someone like Foos/Muse headline, and have acts like Pixies/MSP/Jack White on the undercard.

Well there is me, and I think there is a bit more than you think :D

Anyway Jack White and Pixies are good shouts for the under card but I'm not to sure on MSP though.

Just imagine.....

Queens Of The Stone Age

Jack White

Slipknot

Placebo

System Of A Down

NIN

And just for you Will change Slipknot for Tool ;)

Well MSP have much greater crossover with rock fans than Foals.

Go to a Foals gig and it'll be 99% lads and indie w*nkers. You're not gonna get someone there in a Sabbath t-shirt.

I'm going to buy a Sabbath t-shirt when I see them then go to a Foals gig in it just to prove you wrong.

    • An interesting thing this. Having seem them several times (some of their gigs veer into back catalogue niche territoty), I partly agree they arent Pyramid material (theough modern defeinition of 'bangers' although I could see them headlinging the Other stage) I can't think of another festival in the world that they couldn't headline - Reading, IoW, BST, Rock Wercheter, Roskilde, etc etc.
    • Ohhh it’s very, very good.
    • I'm sure you like silly music too but is it because it's not a Download traditional type act it gets looked down on? Rock am Ring booked them, and they sell every year so don't actually need to   Andy going and being replaced is the best thing that could have happened to Download, someone fresh to mix it up a bit rather than just a complete rotation. The only reason Andy booked ST in ti headline too was because he loves them and he was going on to manage them. Nah, Andy booked FOB in a year where over 20 acts were asked, I'll guarantee if they get Blink and having had Green Day they did not need 20 bands to come to those. FOB are also not one that have been booked in Europe to headline by anyone other than Reading as co-headliner as far as I can see. They weren't a ooh god yes they've booked FOB.
    • Would love to see them headline as well, but agree with Mr Bailey ☹️
    • I think it's just a slight shift in target audience of the festival, Andy also booked FOB    A lot of young people (me included) are nostalgic for the 2000's pop punk and nu metal rather than the 80's legacy bands    It's just the festival moving with the times I think Andy would of done the same    Although they are still booking some legacy acts like GNR but that doesn't seem to have gone well ticket sales wise
