Faithless' entire act clashes with R+L.

edit: and I just realised you might have meant it in a 'can't go because R+L' way. Apologies.

Yeah I just thought about that as I re-read it! Knew a couple on here were interested in seeing them but fingers crossed they'll do solo gigs this summer.

I think what people are saying is that they expect The Vaccines to be pushing towards an R&L headline slot by subbing this year, and the slots they've announced so far (and the number of them) don't really tie in with a band in that situation.

Nothing wrong with it, other than some will see it is a failure on their part and another thing to mock them about, but if it's a conscious decision to do this rather than pledging allegiance/exclusivity to FR while working their way up the R&L bill then that's their call.

Not directly to you, but.

Kendal Calling is a growing festival, and has added 10k extra people in 2 years.

The other headliners are pretty decent sized bands. Elbow have subbed, kaiser chiefs have subbed, although both could be said to be on a downward trajectory. I'm sure Snoop would probably sub at R&L also.

I don't see this as a downward step for the vaccines, more of a sidestep and a headline experience that could stand them in good stead for the future.

Frank Turner headlined Kendall Calling in 2014 but he also did it with a load of other festival around the same capacity, still some people believe that he is on this way up

But nobody was talking about Frank headlining r&l.

I think it's more that people assumed they'd already surpassed the likes of Kendal and they've been taken aback by the fact they're nowhere near as big as some have been saying. They got overpushed to 3rd main before their second album dropped and Melvin said they were future headliners. But of course he would, it was setting up an austerity booking for the future and nothing more.

Don't take it personally, I'm sure it's a lovely festival.

Never been, never really appealed to me, just pointing out the fact that the festival is growing in size, and with that it'll be attracting bigger acts.

The way everyone is talking, it's as if the vaccines are playing a local working mens club and that's all they can sell.

I can't remember if it was on here or the glastonbury boards, can't find it to bump it up, but whoever had the supposed info on The Libertines your dates is looking good, Ibiza Rocks and Low Festival in Bendiorm(christ) both announced the last two days

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
