Lineup 2015

I still care about Alt-J. I loved an Awesome Wave but the two singles were a bit lack luster in my opinion. Doesn't help when Left Hand Free was meant to appease a US record company and it was written in 20 mins as a piss take and it shows as it isn't great (still a bit enjoyable though). Hunger of the Pine was better. Can't wait to see them in September though and still looking forward to the rest of the album

About the same level.

EDIT: Just realised that ofc it's the same level, they did Ally Pally before they headlined NME last year :P

Brixton - 4,921

Ally Pally - 7,300

Yeah but that Ally Pally show was probably announced after they were announced for R&L so Melvin will want to get them out of that now that they can play Ally Pally

"We offer the largest standing capacity in the capital 10,400. The medium capacity is 2,500, making Ally Pally perfect for an intimate gig, average concert or album tour stop."

woah woah woah. Let's all hold on here. Dentalplan you evil genius you.

Seemed to get a lot of hype from what I saw. And they sold out Ally Pally which I don't know the significance of but people mention it when bands do that.

Alt-J have never played Ally Pally god dammit. They did two nights at Brixton last May but have never out right headlined their own show at the Palace.

We've all been fooled.

EDIT: FFS. People talked like they'd already played Ally Pally! I didn't even know they were touring in September, let alone playing AP! Nobodies been fooled. I'm the fool. :(

An Alt-J song came on at 1am in McDonald's last night and my friend started singing along, and then another friend asked her if she could borrow their album, so I guess lots of people still like them.

Yes lots.

Alt-J have a big fanbase, and I reckon they are coming back at the perfect time. I still hear people playing and listening to songs from their first album even now.

It's just how big of a slot they are gonna get is the question. They will be on the mainstage, depending on the album I think it'l be between a sub and 3rd down.

If they're not big enough to sub I guess they can co-sub.

    • mmm... i note there are several derogatory comments about this... not sure what it says about me, but i could spend a happy afternoon here...   Simple Minds, Deacon Blue and Texas are all great live bands.   hell, i'd even be drawn away from the bar to see James Blunt (if only for a bit of a nostalgia trip for his show on the Pyramid that i admit i hugely enjoyed).   still, with all that said - there's no way i'm going to the other end of the country for it...   🙂

    • Have a great festival to those that are going, I cant wait to get there tomorrow!
    • ah i get ya.. Yeah I hate festivals that have that barrier and front section. Roskilde is gonna be the same, which I'm not looking forward to navigating. Like you say, you end up missing other stuff having to get there dead early. Luckily there's not much we're arsed about on at Roskilde though so that wont be such an issue! hahaha
    • Not directly my expectation but my wishlist   - car seat headrest (it has been way too long these guys did Europe) - death cab for cutie - new constellations - interpol - bush - swimschool - suede - the haunted youth (should have been there this year) - flipturn   and oh yes Yumi Zouma can come any week, day, hour but this is a personal fetish with this band
