Is the 'special guest' still being announced on the Sunday of the festival? Or was that information incorrect?

its moyet! he could have been talking nonsense to get publicity tho...and there might end up not being a special guest, i'm becoming very cynical with guests and exclusives at festivlas..

The Sunday afternoon slot he's been bigging up had better not be Alison Moyet. Come on, Melvin, a lot of the line-up this year looks like it's aimed at people with insomnia.

He did get the BBCR6 stage headliners right though, so very very right.

Last year was in the week before the Festival, usually a bit before then.

More names on BBC6 Music tomorrow.

The Twilight Sad are in Liverpool that weekend, would be a waste if they didn't hop over. I bet it'll actually be some unknowns tho.

Appears to be a false alarm. Latitude retweeded a 6 Music tweet suggesting more band announcements. That retweet has been taken down. They have announced a link-up with English Volleyball! Also a competition for local bands to play on The Alcove Stage

They realised Neil Young's Hyde Park show has not sold out yet so can't announce him yet

Efests will be the death of me. Would be amazing, would never come true.

Hey,

My first year at Latitude (usually Glasto) & I have a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to help..

Are any of the camping areas known to be rowdier or quieter etc? ie Brown is quiet at Leeds, Pennards rowdy at Glasto etc..

How far is the walk from parking to camping?

What time does all the late night stuff finish?

Are all secret sets announced beforehand or is there an onsite radio etc to find out about these things?

& finally (thanks!) I usually take a knife for cooking etc, obviously this never leaves camp. Am i likely to have a problem, i noticed on the website that it generically states nothing that could be used as a weapon allowed in. (I realise i'm probably over thinking this one as i'm sure all festivals have this rule & it's never been a problem..)

Thanks very much

> Yellow is unofficially lively camping. Apart from the official quiet camping, the outer reaches of Green, and formerly, Blue are less lively.

How far is the walk from parking to camping?

> 10 - 20 mins depending on parking/camping spot

What time does all the late night stuff finish?

> 2am, and they'll want you out the arena soon after

Are all secret sets announced beforehand or is there an onsite radio etc to find out about these things?

> No on-site radio team. There's an info point just past the bridge in the arena, but will only have what's listed in staff handbooks.

> Never brought one in myself; there's a forum at http://forums.latitudefestival.co.uk/f4.aspx which may have the answer.

Thanks very much

That's really helpful Tilly, thanks very much :)

Neil, yep, info is scarce compared to some other fests! I also asked the question on the Latitude forum & got the following info:

1. For quieter camping, essentially the further from the arena you are, the quieter it is. Look at the Map on the page from the link below and you'll see that, unlike Glastonbury, Latitude's camping is 'all together' in a subdivided larger space that works its way away from the Arena. So, yellow camping is the closest and as a result is the 'youngest' and noisiest by far. There's even a designated 'quiet camping' area in the outermost part of General Camping, if you look. Just means distance to and from the Arena increases, but it's still not that far away.

2. So, the distance from the Car Park to camping is variable, depending on how close to the Arena you want to be. I've camped in Yellow and the closer/mid areas of Red and the walk is not more than 10-15minutes, I'd say. I may have underestimated that badly as I'm always in a ridiculous state of excitement, so it could be an hour and I wouldn't care! What I would say is that many people use trolleys - their own or hired - for the trip.

3. Music stages will finish around midnight and then there is lots of after hours stuff in various parts of the site. I'd say the 'proper' stuff - including DJs in a number of venues - wraps up around 3.30-4am.

4. There really aren't the same number, or tradition, of 'secret' sets at Latitude as there are at some other festivals. People on the forum are discussing the secret set which is probably the special slot at midday on Sunday (made famous by Joanna Newsom in 2008) or conceivably something as yet unannounced on Thursday night. But, it's not like a huge buzz going around because Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood are suddenly about to come on stage at The Park etc. I'm not sure if there is a festival radio...I've certainly never listened to it. You have to remember that Latitude, whilst great, is about a quarter to a third of the size of Glastonbury...

5. Pack your knife properly in your bags. I can't see any issue at all.

I will have to add though that the yellow campsite (for the 'yoof' is still WAY quieter than anything Reading has, i reckon. And last year me and the missus camped in quiet (we like to sleep) and you could hear a pin drop at bedtime.....

LAtitude don't really 'do' secret sets per se. Ive heard sometimes a band or 2 will rock up on the living room stage thingy. But, i assume, to find out about these things you need a twitter and an eagle eye. No LAT EFF EMM radio either

all “late night” entertainment within the Arena, and The Woods, finish by the 3am curfew, rather than the slightly later time that you gave. Shortly after this time everyone is gently encouraged to return to their campsites and the Arena/Woods are closed for the night, ready to be tidied/re-jigged for the following morning.

Back from the mistress festival which is Glastonbury, all ready to slip back into the familiar arms of my first love, Latitude. She may not be as energetic as the mistress, or willing to do as many things, at all hours of the day, in many different positions, or command as much attention, but she knows exactly what I like, and does it so well.

Announce it, already! We'll all be driven mad with Prince and Shakey speculation and be disappointed when it's Ed Sheeran and Marcus Mumford.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
