I know it's unlikely, but with The Rolling Stones supposedly doing their farewell world tour next year (they've already announced a few Asia/Pacific dates), does anyone think that they might be on to be the Sunday headliner, it could be there Belgium date?

I think the Sunday will be one or two of Linkin Park, The Prodigy, Kings of Leon and QOTSA. Muse and QOTSA would be the best possible case scenario for me, probably.

But yeah, as said, there must surely be a reason for them not announcing the Sunday headliner yet? Either they haven't announced anything yet (which would open up a lot of possibilities), the headliner isn't yet tied up, or they have their own dates still on sale (would this fit in with anybody?). Taking all that into account, it probably rules out everyone I listed above.

I can't see Kanye headlining there was a little uproar when Black Eyed Peas 'headlined' the other year and that was billed as the closing party.

They played after Maiden if memory served me right, so I would count them out unless they advertise him as the 'closing party act' like with Black Eyed Peas.

It does look like a foo fighters or muse as there would be no reason not to announce A linkin park or a KOL.

Perhaps they are trying to get Muse tied down as we speak.

My thoughts about the final headline spot.

Linkin Park won't fit the Sunday headliner scheme as they're not big and "old" enough. Dave & Co. would do the trick (rock n' Grohl !!), Muse might fit in as well, but what do you think about a old-school headliners? For example Aerosmith (I know - so far the final date is June 25th), or - to coincide with the festival's birthday - U2 ?? It's an odd guess since the latter don't do festivals for decades (apart from Glasto)...but they would fit in perfectly.

Still - Foo Fighters are most probable from my point of view. Only hoping that both Kings of Leon and Editors stay as far away from Werchter as possible...

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
