Met two on sun. night this year. Think you are great. Love that you convey not only the words but the feeling of the music. Was very impressed with the preparation - set lists, lyrics etc. Please come and visit us earlier and we can ensure a spot is set up and you can hear the vocals. Great service you provide. X

Watching them on the other stage for the Smashing Pumkins touched me massively.

I thought they were awesome and it was so nice for deaf people to be able to feel included in the festival.

It really was one of the nicest, most humbling things that I saw in Glasto.

The two interpreters I met were really lovely. They came to research lyrics for some acts they couldn't be sure of hearing properly on the computers we were working on for @glastoinfo which I thought was real total commitment to doing their absolute best. I saw one of them on a couple of stages later, full of life and really engaging with the spirit of the music.

I reckon the hard-of-hearing knew a lot more about the songs than I did in some cases!

My Glastonbury 'moment' this year was watching one of the interpreters sign the Professor Green set. The last song was Read All About It and he signed with such emotion and commitment that as he finished I had tears running down my face feeling like a total prat!

I just hope these guys don't mind being watched. I felt like a right rubbernecker but couldn't take my eyes off him! :D

It's incredible. I learnt sign language a few years back (my Mum is a speech therapist, so free lessons!) after being unable to communicate with a deaf man who came into my pub. I wish more people would learn. It can be so isolating for those who can't communicate, I adore Glastonbury for finding a way to include everyone. Very, very touching.

I saw them doing the Vaccines at the Pyramid and was 1st time I'd ever seen it and thought it was fantastic- there was 2 of them taking it in turns and really getting into it.

Always something I've fancied learning and seeing something like this makes me think about doing it more.

Also Amii's post about learning it so she could serve people in the pub reminded me of a real heart warming moment i saw when i was in the queue in a shop and there were 2 deaf people in front of me and when they got to the counter the guy at the till could sign and you could see how much it menat to them and how it made their shopping experience so much better

The lady signing Elvis Costello's Oliver's Army to a guy in an electric chair was one of the most touching things I've ever seen. He was signing along with her with a beaming smile on his face and she was clearly enjoying it too. It was obvious the disabled guy got loads more out of the festival as a result of Deafzone being there. The guy she was working with gave her a massive congratulating hug at the end.

All the other interpreters I saw we're having a proper boogie while signing too, it was great to see. I must admit I had a bit of a giggle at the two trying to keep up with whatever Dizzee Rascal was saying, good on them! It seemed like they were having the best time ever which really spread to the rest of the viewing platform I was on.

The only tiny gripe I had was that the vast majority of those using the interpreters were standing and not in wheelchairs, but were not positioned at the back of the platform, meaning a few in chairs or who couldn't stand for very long couldn't see the stage. But I guess that's not Deafzone's fault, more the stewards on the platform.

Other than that, in some ways them being there was a festival highlight. Fantastic job!

I'd like to apologise to the deaf zone lot. I think we accidentally ended up taking their space they'd 'saved' with a rucksack and a jumper at Portishead and I wanted to say how sorry we are, we genuinely didn't realise and were mortified when one of you came to grab your things we'd not even seen - we'd have moved in a second if asked!

Think what you do is amazing and now want to learn to sign.

Was with my best buddy at editors and we spotted one of the deafzone girls. She was putting in so much effort and had an enormous smile on her face. She was having a great time. For one person. We couldn't believe it, it was so touching to see the effort and enthusiasm that they put in to ensure that everybody was included and had an incredible experience of their own.

Seeing that really was one of the highlights of our festival.

I spoke to 2 ladies who were part of the interpreter crew beside the platform during Nick Cave. I had been puzzled by the people holding balloons, and wanted confirmation they were holding them for the vibrations. The 2 other women doing the interpretation were phenomenal, dancing and doing Nick Cave-esque sneers. It was a real eye opener for me, and I wanted to express my admiration for the job they were doing, and how massively inclusive it is to facilitate deaf & hearing impaired people at the festival. Had a bit of a "that is just great! " moment.

As much as the leading lady of MS MR is watchable I really enjoyed watching the signer doing her thing in time to the music, dancing & talking with her hands at the same time was mesmerizing. Lovely.

    • Same here, when the lineup dropped it looked very strong but this year I’m considering more whether I buy tickets for enjoyment or fomo.   Speaking of that dilemma, I caved and bought a Turnstile Piece Hall ticket so I’ll see you there 😂
