I don't want it to turn into a metal fest. Not at all, I love Glasto as it is but mixed in with some bigger name heavier acts would make it insane. Plus I saw more heavy metal t-shirts (apart from Rolling Stones t-shirts) than any other genre.

I don't think the rockier acts are hyped up enough:

Perhaps this could be a day:

Foo Fighters

Rage Agianst The Machine

Soundgarden

Deftones

OR This:

Iron Maiden/Metallica

Kiss

OR:

Led Zeppelin

Deep Purple

AC/DC would be a good fit (yet more metal-ish)

And if we're making wish lists for West Holts...

Earth, Wind and Fire would be good, add Manu Chao, Rachid Taha and please, please, please get Fat Freddys Drop... Ta.

the fact that every five minutes I heard 'DAFT PUNK ARE PLAYING', 'DAFT PUNK ARE PLAYING'.

When they play glastonbury they will get a crowd to rival the stones, they are huge.

But I don't think they'l play glastonbury. Not for a while.

What?

I don't think they are a Pyramid headliner.

Is that a problem?

I know they are big and they are the band of the moment but bands like the Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers have played the Other Stage in recent years.

I would put them in that category of bands.

If you put a big group on the Pyramid and Daft Punk on the Other Stage it would still be safe.

They are DJ's at the end of the day,and they do not have the necessary interaction to headline the Pyramid IMHO.

It angers me so much, more than it should. Metal fans think their music is the holy grail and that every festival would benefit from it.

It gets on my nerves that metal fans always complain about reading and V recycling acts yet their festivals rebook headliners who only headlined 2 years ago!

Frustrating how much hypocrisy there is!

First world problems, young Matthew, now if you were to channel that anger into some meaningful social movement you could do great things.

Ah well i'm not passionate enough about anything else to start one.

It's just tiring look at suggestions for festivals every year and seeing "metallica, iron maiden, black sabbath, subbed by metallica, iron maiden, slayer". It's tiring and boring.

Having one heavier act high up the lineup is fine. But a day like the Foos/Soundgarden/RATM/Deftones day as suggested is stupid. As has been said, there is a festival called Download.

I think a headliner like Foos or ultimately Led Zeppelin would be awesome but that doesn't mean Glasto needs to get heavier. It's doing well enough as it is.

Lol @ the suggestion of metal. Like others have said, if you want metal, go to Download. Glastonbury, to my knowledge, is the only festival that sells out on the day of ticket sales. They don't have metal music and they accomplish this, so why on earth would they start introducing it? They're obviously doing something right!

I agree, it'd be a right flop. People go to Glasto because it's got that amazing community, peaceful vibe, and just general friendliness that not many festivals achieve. Chucking in a heavy metal band for a load of men in eyeliner with hair covering their faces so they can mosh at the front of the stage really isn't what Glastonbury is about, is it?

To clarify before someone gets their knickers in a twist, that's not me saying that metal fans aren't friendly and that, I'm saying that generally the atmosphere at those kind of gigs aren't really suitable for all ages. Mosh pits and head banging aren't for everyone and Glastonbury is a festival that prides itself on being welcoming to anyone of any age etc and ability.
