United

Next season, 2 new CB's, LB, 2 CM's, 2 Wingers and a Striker when RVP pisses off.

so at least 8 players to replace, costing upwards of £200m, think that'll happen? No way.

Anyone using the 'We've got [insert team 1] and [insert team 2] left, easy', have you been paying zero attention to this season? Wigan beat City, what about United losing to Stoke, Sunderland, WBA and drawing with Fulham? Not everything is that basic. However i do think it's Chelsea league to lose now, having seemingly guaranteed City winning the league, about 2-3 weeks ago, but 5 league goals conceded for Chelsea in 13 games, going back to 14th December when they beat Palace 2-1. That's a rock, and especially as now, they're scoring, which was their biggest problem.

Just because it wasn't a full blown headbutt, doesn't mean it wasn't a headbutt.

Oh, and Man United's delusions are funny. Hence why people laugh at them. Much like Rangers up here. They need to know their place at the moment. Any opportunity to slap them down to size is welcome.

8 new players to achieve what? If your talking about mounting a campaign for the league title your probably right. If your talking about to have a chance for top 4 then I would probably disagree. Also where they will strengthen will depend on the formation they decide.

they'll need to spend loads just to make top 4 next season. For a start, they're losing at least 4 of their better players from this season, so they need to spend £50M+ just to stand still.

10 to 12 point gap seems a lot on paper but Liverpool have made up far more points this season.

And to get a team (not a squad, just a team) to make the difference from where they were, how much has it cost them? Around £200M.

Then there were all the years where they spent £20-50M, and it didn't make a meaningful difference to where they finished.

And, let's face it, L'pool's squad in those days was far far less threadbare than Utd's will be at the end of this season - especially if they're losing RVP as is rumoured.

I really can't see how Utd will go anywhere but backwards without a spend of £100M+.

It's also possible the reduction in games may help

[

Utd won't get a reduction in games. They'll end up playing more than they ever have - because they've got shit loads of lost income to make up from somewhere, plus £100M+ to spend on the squad.

All it takes is Man Utd to get 6 points more

You might as well be saying: all it takes for Fulham to win the league is around 50 more points.

The saying means nothing, the doing requires good players.

Again it will depend how wisely both themselves and their rivals spend their money.

that's true, but the best spender of money is still dreadful. That's the fact.

So how are Utd going to be the first club in the world to disprove that fact?

That was probably incorrectly worded, they wont get a reduction in games, but they will get a reduction in high intensity/high pressure games.

and a big increasing in travelling half way round the word and back within a few days. Edited by eFestivals

They'd have to be high on some great gear. Worried about Sunday. Liverpool are playing some great stuff at the moment.

I'm still thinking it's going to be a Utd win. It's their cup final. :P

Even if a Utd win it doesn't get Utd anywhere nearer 4th in any meaningful way. It needs a big fuck-up from Liverpool for that to happen.

Arsenal are effectively 4th now. And showing their weak character yet again at the business end of the season. Can't see Utd catching them though.

right, so Arsenal are always weak at the end of the season despite for the last two seasons storming thru as by-far the strongest team at the end.

Presumably you still go with the idea that Utd always have a storming finish too, as Rooney said they would back in the autumn?

The reality? It goes how it goes for every team. The laws of averages says that it'll average out and it does.

Bit unfair: they have had some of their best players injured, compared to say Chelsea. Of course, they should have bought some better players when they had the chance!

What goes on at Arsenal? Season after season they have a big chunk of their best players out injured for a long time - something that doesn't seem to happen at other clubs to anything like the same extent.
