The Rumours around here are they are going to do a deal ala Benteke, as Suarez throws his toys out the pram, Liverpool shift £60k a week Downing, £115k Reina, and so forth and offer Suarez terms of about £175k a week, whether its true or not i don't know. But as an Evertonian, it's sad to see Downing, Shelvey, Spearing as co leave, because it actually

strengthens you

It'll be an interesting season nevertheless, because I think Rogers is an atrocious manager, but we COULD be getting worse!

If he stays it'll be a bigger about turn than the City/Mancini/Tevez row. I'd be very surprised.

If he stays, my view won't be challenged - it'll have been proved completely wrong. Whether it works out or not for both club and player is another matter mind...

Fair play to LFC for standing their ground on this. Good to see.

Same for Rooney at Utd.

I'm still far from sure that either club will hold out, but unless clubs start holding players to their contracts and are prepared to take the losses on sulky players the world of footie might as well give up on contracts altogether.

It's not the end of this one. If Liverpool fans are getting giddy over this, they should be reminded of what Suarezclaimed was 'in his contract'

A) A guarantee of Champions League Football

B) A Release Clause in his contract if someone matches a transfer bid of £40m

You just know that for Suarez to sign this new deal he's at least doubled his money, got a contract with the two things he believed were in his contract aswell.

Agents aren't soft, bet he's laughing at home right now thinking, we've just earned a ton of money, and now next year if Liverpool don't make the CL, we can leave without all this Hassle.

The Rooney case though, same as when he was at Everton... Why would he want to leave United? Cause his agent wants one final payday.

LFC fans arent giddy at this in the slightest. If anything it was Arsenal fans that were w*nking themselves into a collective coma over the transfer. John Cross for example.

We're a fanbase that is well wise to the PR spin at this stage. Ive no doubt theres more to this story... but the frothy ooze that Arsenal fans were working themselves up was kinda unpleasant.

I am serious chief yes. Rooney (and to a lesser extent Gerrard if I'm totally honest) have both shown similar itchy feet... yet both are still lauded by the fans. Suarez isnt the first and won't be the last to show petulance only to be reeled in.

The twin conceits of Arsenal's smug +1 bid and of course the accepted norm (on here aswell) that the player can dominate his employer have taken a battering with this (supposed) u-turn.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
