I worked for Oxfam on the gates in 2009, and I didn't really care about the picture, we we're more checking they were actual tickets (UV checks etc), than the person. It's all down to whether you get a jobsworth ticket-checker! The fact you've got a free ticket, its defo worth it! Just take a wedge of cash and pack light, therefore if you don't get in you don't have tons of beer and stuff. But if you do, you can use that cash to buy drinks etc.

Good luck!!!

Yeah if it were me I'd probably go as far as to try and match the picture like someone said, i.e. if they have a beard grow one etc. The least I'd do is dye and perhaps cut my hair.

Also, don't go over the top with the disguise and rock a sombrero and a fake nose/glasses combo. Would just raise suspicion. If they question you just hand over whatever Id they have given you and exchange some banter, try and take their mind of the suspicion and make them laugh or something. And if al else fails, head to the next gate. You have nothing to loose apart from the journey there and back.

I too would give it a shot and as others said, would dye my hair and wear a pair of spanx if necessary (woman!). The worst they can say is no but I would approach the gate with no facial disguises e.g. sunglasses or a hat as if they have to ask you to remove it, you're drawing more attention to yourselves as opposed to the person walking in next to you with nothing on their face who gets let it straight away.

Just hang around until you see someone taking loads and loads of beer in then the gate staff will be more distracted by working out if its for personal use, and you will get waved on through. maybe

I'd definately go for it! I bought a ticket off some bloke on here in 2009, he sent me thru his driving license as well (which i ended up losing along with my wallet!). Didn't even need the ID in the end, got in easily. I got searched by security as well and he asked to look at my ticket, so it got checked twice. I didn't bother with sunglasses, hats or any of that rubbish, i reckon it would be more likely to draw suspicion.

Also, make sure you remember the name, address, date of birth etc incase they quiz you.

Yea its all down to luck on the day.

Every year Im pretty sure someone on the gates has asked/back checked my address/said - have I enjoyed the journey down from said address/asked my name or something whilst looking a the ticket/obviously picture at the same time.

I can only suggest - before its your turn in the queue - that you think on the spot - if your female and its a male on the gate checking the ticket be creative.

Have a bit of a laugh/joke with them before you hand over the ticket - if you possibly can (with 170,000 people behind you waiting - I understanding its not that possible)

Maybe if they realise/ question about some other mysterious person on the ticket - pretend you've brought the wrong ticket from the car in all the stress of the queues/carrying bags (the person on the ticket is coming a day later - your meeting them at the coach station the next day!) pretend to go back lugging all the stuff - try another gate

Otherwise turn up middle of the night Like Wed night/Thursday Morn 3/4/5am when the gate people are half asleep/drinking/dont care and pretty much stroll in - I did this at Leeds I think one year - 2009?! when it was all early bird tickets - didnt have one (as theyd sold out) and walked in with a weekend ticket.

I guess it comes down to how different you look. You've not got too much to lose (I guess?) so worth a try. Could there be criminal repercussions? I don't know? Prob not if you simply walk off saying I have some more id in my car etc rather than going bonkers.

I'd say no disguise at gate, then be charming and polite - that goes a long way normally.

Try to imagine the picture really is you and then react accordingly. Initially you'd not light up (I'd guess!) and you'd talk it through - after all it must happen to genuine people. Have some good id on you, know details of your friends and be prepared not to get in. Maybe go in middle of night? If you're half asleep I bet the person on the gate will be too. Charm and politeness!

Good luck!

Have you got any friends going? Get one of them to go ahead of you in the queue and act REALLY shifty. Then all the focus will be on them and you might get waved through while they check and double check their legit tickets.

It's a shame you can't have the option to legally transfer a ticket to a friend. I totally understand why that can't happen but when I read things like this, I just wish there was a way!

I think its important to go when its busy as opposed to quiet because the staff members will be trying to get people quicker therefore not checking the tickets as closely. Also as said having a chat and a laugh with the person is important because it takes there mind of checking the picture. I remember when they questioned that it was me I said something about hitting my face on a rock and thats why my face was different lol.

I have blagged my way in to places before and the very best approach every time is to be friendly, be warm and kind and most importantly look the person who is checking your ticket in the eye all the time. Do not look away or down or anywhere else other than directly at them, talk to them, make conversation, be relaxed and smie.

Give it a go! If I couldn't get a ticket I'd pay money for a second hand one on the off chance it'd work, that being if all else failed eg working, buying some sort of overpriced 'VIP' ticket. It is the best place in the world, at least bloody try if the opportunity presents itself :P
