Smugness

I've just been having a little browse of this forum for some tips and I can't believe the amount of smugness and self righteousness spouted by some of the members.

It's really sad that a topic such as 'gazebos' can be so divisive and I'm suprised that some of the members of this forum even manage to have fun at the festival they profess to love so much.

Welcome to the forum.

The Internet is for arguing* - why would you expect it to be any different in this little corner? If we all wanted to get along with our fellow man we'd do it in the real world.

* and porn obviously

Arguing in the internet is a hobby for some. Things can get very heated when theres such conflicting views. I know gazebos dont seem like a big issue in the grand scheme of things, but thanks to efests, itll now be discussed by David Cameron and his cronies in Parliament the week before the festival.

Unless theyre all on holiday of course.

Welcome to the Glastonbury Festival ethos. We're all about love and tolerance and acceptance and having a good time with positive vibes but wait a minute, you're excited to see Rita Ora? Fuck you, you cretinous bastard, go back to V, bloody idiot.

it's hard not to be smug when you're me, tbf.

but welcome to the forums, Dannyp85. i do love it when newcomers plough right into the regulars as an introduction, exhibiting the very thing they set out to expose.

Its just that as a lover of glasto festival and having been a few times myself it comes across that some members of this forum think that it is there 'Eavis' given right' to tell off other members for asking for tickets, gazebos etc. I actually joined myself 3 years ago when I didn't have a ticket asking anyone if there were any spares and got a similar response to one that I read before. I managed to buy one off gumtree and had a great weekend!

The thing is, the festival did get to a point where it was nearly closed down.

As a result they put in the fence, and a ticketing policy, which, while people moan about it, does stop touting, stupid prices etc, most of the time.

There's always those who rail against, and manage to break the rules, but there is a point to them being there.

Likewise gazebos, they ask for none, and some still bring them.

If we all brought them there would be chaos, those who say that the festival could just enlarge need to remember that GFL pays farmers for the extra land, and the clean up of said land. More land, more cost.

The same people who moan about not being able to bring gazebos, sell tickets, are often those who moan about the prices already.

Most of those who comment on here aren't people being precious, they just have a view of what they think is right or wrong. Of course, some are just arses.

Rant over

I know what the OP means, Ive spotted it all over the place but it makes for good reading. As long as people respect one another (ish) then all is good. Be a bit shit if we all had the same views.

A few peeps think the festival needs policing by them and 'rule are rules' to be upheld at all times. But life is so diverse, each situation is different, the buying of tickets is a cracking example of division. I bet the complainers of second hand ticket sales have all effing got one.

And dont get me started on gazebos....................
