Wed or thurs

Getting up at 4am sounds a lot of hassle to start the festival. Can you leave any earlier on Weds so that you can pitch the tent before it gets dark?

It's no fun pitching camp in the dark. It's a shame you can't get there earlier on the Wednesday but I'd say it'd be easier to set up camp on the Thursday morning. you'll definitely get a space as long as you're not fussy about which campsite you want.

Ha! Good point. I always forget to bring a torch with me. I am planning on buying a head torch, I imagine they are fabulous when using the turdis.

I am a Thursday fan, not least because I couldn't justify any more time away from work/kids/wife.

Thursday suits me fine, the big advantage of Thursday these days is that there hasnt been any quesues to get in (around 3pm) like there used to be a few years back. The downside to this is most of the camping areas are full by then, but I have managed to get a great pitch at pylon ground the last couple of times, and parked really close to Gate A. Also, not sure if I have just been lucky, but managed to get off the site really quickly the last couple of times

If you're in the CV fields aim for Tuesday. A gentle, unhurried set up, meet your neighbours and chill. A good night's sleep and you're ready to go in fresh on Wednesday morning and smile at all those trudging in and worrying about where and how to set up their tents.
