i watched the HItmaker programme mentioned a few posts back last night on bbc4. It was superb.

i wasnt really aware of Chic or Nile's work until seeing them last year at Parklife festival in manchester, to say i was impressed would be the understatement of the year!!

Don't even go there sonny jim, get out while you can. For a while I was in that dark place of speculation but I gave myself a reality check by the method of slapping myself round the face with a wet fish and now I know it's 100% definitely not going to happen. But let's imagine for a second, the sheer explosion of absolute chaos of everyone losing their shit as he strides on stage and sings those two opening lines...

Besides, Bowie would be too busy getting himself pumped up for his appearance with Jagger the night after... what's that song called again?

My shit would be lost by the time he reaches: "red shoes". Once reason why it won't happen is if he does turn up on the Friday night, there would be such a buzz and expectation of him also singing on the Saturday night, that the Pyramid field would be over-full, but we can all dream under the serious moon.

Good chance of Marr playing with Rodgers but I'd be shocked if anyone else did. I also hopes he ropes in some of his better vocalists for this tour. Kimberly Davis for example. That girl can HOLLA. She was with the band when I saw 'em in '09 prompting this post here.

i think there is a purposeful lack of big headline choices on sunday so as to fill the pyramid stage so it looks good on tv for mumford, and not receive extra criticism for the booking? i think chic would be a crowd nightmare if they were on sunday!

Chic are perfectly placed for Friday night, an amazing party atmosphere on the first proper night when everyone has energy to dance dance dance (yowsah, yowsah, yowsah). Move Portishead to the Sunday.

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
