I so don't care about the lineup that I'm gonna wear my patented 360 degree sound collector (see profile pic) for the whole festie, so that all I'll hear is one big mash up of everyone who is playing at any given time, combined with crowd noise and random conversations.

You hear it all the time, same old stuff... "Glastonbury is about so much more than the lineup". But let's face it, it is about 60-70% of what the festival is really about.

If the lineup was literally turgid one year, many people would not come back. Certainly not for £200 a pop they wouldn't...

Having said that I would like to see the festival scale back on super groups one year, just to see how it went down. So no big acts like Radiohead, Rolling stones that would probably cost the festival a fortune. It would be so nice to have the festival effectively how it is, but lowered tickets costs and more about the vibe again rather than dominant headline acts.

Not on the main stages its not.

There's so many places playing music at glastonbury, you'd want to be a right awkward bastard to not find SOMETHING you like at any one time.

Yeah, its nice to have somehting good on the big stages, and see some well known acts, but at the end of the day, you can go see them in other places as well. Nowhere near 70% of what its about. I'd say I've seen 5 or 6 acts on the Pyramid the 2 years I've been, and not gone near the Other or JPT. West Holts is where I've seen the most acts, but even then its not loads.

Its the small venues that make it for me tbh. Stumbling across something completely mental that you've never heard of and dancing like mad or whatever.

Loads of other festivals might have better acts headlining, but they won't have anything like the variety of other entertainment on offer.

The line up for me is - id rather go to a glasto with a shit line up than a reading/v/titp etc. with a strong line up as i know the weekend will be fucking ace regardless. I also say that with the fact i know if the main stages are shit there will be something that will entertain me beyond belief in the corner of shangri-la.

Having something good on the pyramid is more of an unexpected bonus now a days. Jurassic 5 announced some june shows today 8-)

Its the completely opposite for me, the idea of spending £200 on a weekend trying to find small tents with some obscure music on sounds like a massive waste of money to me.

Im going to Glastonbury because the top 4 or 5 stages and the dance areas have some of the biggest artists playing. Sure Ive said im going to spend the Friday night finding some random tent because Ive seen AM tons of times but If the rumours are true I will be parking my arse near the Pyramid Saturday evening to watch Mumfords and then the Stones.

And TBH the only people I ever hear about the "Glastonbury experience" from is on here. I know a ton of people who have gone to Glastonbury before and they all just talk about sitting out near the main stages watching the top bands play as the main priority and then add "sure you spend a evening watching the crazy stuff but the weekend is about getting pissed watching good music on the Pyramid"

Going on the not going for the (main) music theme, I've got two mates (both first came in 2009) who literally only turn up for the dance stuff and Arcadia/Shangri La etc.

Baffles me how they spend all their time not exploring much else of the site!!
