wondering if you lovely peeps can help me.

I want to use the "digital optical input" on my Marantz MCR603.
(the spec doc is here: https://www.marantz.co.uk/uk/products/pages/productdetails.aspx?catid=hifi&subcatid=cdreceiver&productid=mcr603melodymedia)

I bought a TOSlink cable, but it's the wrong plug-type for the Marantz.

So what is the right type called, so I can buy the right cable?

Looks like a nice little unit. No wifi though. Can you chuck a Chromecast in the back?

it's got wired, which would be fine if my media server didn't randomly fall off the network now and then .... which I've given up trying to find a solution for.

It's now got a sonos connect hooked up to the back of it which doesn't fall off the (it's own) network. That's what the digital cable's for.

Did anybody see anything they'd like from the Record Store Day lists??

Its a total swindle but saw a few yeah. The Bert Jansch, stuff,  Neil Young  doing Tonights the Night at the Roxy, Pere Ubu, Wilco live from 96, Stooges, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, PiL, Rage Against the Machine at the Dem Convention, Jeff Buckley at Sin E, The Whos Kids Are Alright.

Won't bother though. No interest queuing and then battling through a shop full of 50 year old virgins who still live with their mum who are on the hunt for a coloured 7 inch single of some dogshit they don't even like. No fun in that. I can pick up any of the above later.

There’s some stuff I quite fancy this year, more so than in previous years.

Hopefully getting the Tom Waits reissues, Pictish Trail, The Streets, Bobbie Gentry, Erasure, Sandy Denny. We’ll see. Huge amount of shite there too, novelty records etc

I think all the BertJansch stuff is all getting put out again, I picked up that box set of the first 4 albums the other week.

Aha excellent. Yeah usually the case. I'll hold off so. He sounds the biz on vinyl.

Reading up on it, might only be the Transatlantic records stuff that’s getting reissued. Those RSD ones are the stuff he did for Charisma. Pick of the bunch there is L.A Turnaround. Glorious album. I’m tempted now, damn you Nal.

OBVIOUSLY it's only for complete morons.... But I've got my heart set on the Sufjan Call Me By Your Name 10", and if I'm there anyway there's no harm in picking up that Run The Jewels box or the re-release of This Is The Kit's debut. I don't know if my pride will allow me to be one of those complete tools who queue up for it, but I hope to be strong and pure enough in my love of Sufjan to not succumb to that deadly sin.

Deadwing would be my 2nd choice, In Absentia and Lightbulb sun both really good as well.

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
