The Vinyl Thread

Bought new Horrors one day before yesterday. Only had one spin but sounded great. Can't wait to see them now.

Currently got Barrence Whitfield belting out some soul on the vinyl I got at his gig last night.

If the Savages had been any tighter, they'd have been Yorkshiremen. Fucking amazing.

Did you get the 180g Horrors? Along with Beck's newie I think its one of the fullest sounding pressings of the year.

Wow, what an effort getting the booth to New York. Two of the coolest guys in rock and roll. I'm gonna buy the album soon I think. Have a little spending spree on Third Man. It has been too long since my last one.

I couldn't get into it. Will probably give it another chance though.

Had never really listened to Swans before so maybe not the best place to start?

I got The Seer but this is -so- much better.

Sorted myself a provisional turntable and speakers until I gather enough funds to get a better quality one. Got a few to get started including funeral arcade fire (180 g) which sounds brilliant. I used a seller on ebay called All_Your_Music, I got it for £12 brand new with free delivery from California, very happy with it. Am looking at getting Nick Cave's latest from the same supplier

Just bought myself the new Rodrigo y Gabriela which is frankly awesome. Sounds so, so good!

Also a couple of Rancid records (...And out come the wolves on white vinyl and Life Won't Wait on orange vinyl) in recent months which made me realise just how much I love Rancid.

Awesome stuff.

Reading this again inspires me to get on and purchase some new vinyl. Last item I bought though I picked up at a Gnarwolves gig. I'm off to search for some Rancid on vinyl right now though

The rancid stuff I think is a limited US set of reissues from Epitaph records (along with a ton of NoFx and pennywise too). Mine were bought from Rockaboom in Leicester. :)

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
