ive never seen them before, but if they dont play 1979 i think i will be heartbroken, its one of my favourite ever songs. ive seen their setlists and i know they can be dodgy... but as long as they include 1979, tonight, disarm, cherub rock and today then ill probably walk away happy. one of the standouts on the lineup for me.

I noticed Mumford got an hour and 15 min slot last year in their sub position. Do we reckon The Pumpkins get more then an hour? I hope so.

That would have been perfect! Still really wish Nick Cave was on Other. But I'm not accepting this clash is happening until it's confirmed. It makes no sense - there's too much of a fan crossover.

Is it possible that one of the as yet unannounced sets on Pyramid or Other shifts one or the other out of the way? More straw clutching!

To be fair looking at previous clash finders there is a possibility you'll be able to watch a bit of both. It'll be Pumpkins for me though, shame!....but that's the way the cookie crumbles, thanks god Dinosaur Jr aren't clashing too.

IMO Siamese dream is a better album, Mellon collie has some better songs, but as an album it's too much.

See Mellon Collie is probably my favourite album of all time. It's rare to find an album with the agression, passion, sincerity and power. I find it hard to find any songs you could cut from it. Such a vast variety of songs.

Have to admit that at the time in school it was dance and brit pop vs grunge/rock and I was on the dance/britpop side. Didn't even get into Nevermind/Nirvana until the late 90's/early 00's

Those are the starter-pack if you will. Or just buy Rotten Apples as it's a pretty good selection of a Greatest Hits (the bonus disc Judas O also is fantastic, goes to show how strong they were as a band that their B-sides were often as strong as the singles).

I would say to anyone new to The Pumpkins, I'd listen to in order (pre split albums) Siamese Dream-Melon Collie-Gish-Adore-Machina all amazing album in there own way. If you're still interested then give the new stuff a listen.

I'm going to give siamese dreams a go today. Very difficult to listen to it with unbiased ears though, as they're a band I wrote off 20 years ago. But I'll try. Lot of good people on here, whose taste I respect, seem to think they're good.

Loads of bands change members. The Stones and Arctic Monkeys aren't the original line ups. I know its different with The Pumpkins but with Billy Corgan at the helm you know they'll put on an amazing show.
