True - but he was never going to win with everyone. Melodramatic full on american style rock is not going to float a lot of boats at Glastonbury. Its just the - why didnt he do the hits bit I dont understand. Neil Young didnt either the night before and doesnt get the grief BS does on here

Bruce's shows just gone in July of this year made Glasto look even more sombre and uninteresting.

Speaking personally there is some amount of daylight between the Glastonbury gig and the other 8 Springsteen shows I've seen.

There is HUGE scope for him to improve on the last time should he re-appear next summer. I'd be all for it. Sunday night would be perfect for him.

Bit mystified about "he didnt play the hits" as well. Which hits? He did Dancing in the Dark. He did Glory Days. He did The River. Didnt think he had a lot of "hits" in this country. Was it because he didnt do Born In The USA? Cant stand tha bloody song.

Substitute the Hyde Park setlist the next night for Glasto and you wouldnt have me complaining.

Goes without saying folks that when you take Dancing in the Dark and Glory Days from the Boss' setlist the gig looks, as I said, an even more sombre & downbeat affair. He had to break the curfew to even play those two. He was in "we're in an economic mess here, people" mode at the time. #

A return this summer would be a completely different experience. Bar one or two tracks he concievably play a completely different setlist.

For bands like that, playing Glastonbury again would depend on the spike in sales they experienced following their set. The 'legendary venue/charity/secure your place in history' schtick will work once, but if you want these people back, there has to be a reason for them (and the associated interests) to agree to return. That's pretty much how your record sales go following your appearance.

I will quite literally combust if this were to happen! I loved the 09 set, Manchester was sublime this year (let's not talk about the sound at Hyde Park though- will never be sucked into going to a gig there again!)

I sadly can't see it though, but part of me think this (12/13) could be the last of the big e street tours?

I think we're more likely to get Bruce back than any of the others mentioned Russ. Touring with a 17 piece band and (at least to my relatively recent/ignorant ears) sounding looser & better than ever.

Neil/Stevie/Paul all pretty much rinsed the festival. Personally speaking those are three of the best shows you could ever see and they'd be foolish to try.
