Is it me or is Wembley taking on a lot more gigs in 2013 than usual? Or am I just noticing these as opposed to in the past when I haven't?

it's defo picking up more gigs next year, because it's managed by Live Nation for gigs and Live Nation now don't have Hyde Park. Wembley is one of the other options they have.

why did Live Nation lose Hyde Park?

Does that mean wireless is gone too?

they either were outbid, or they didn't bid at all. I know they didn't like the tougher conditions that would apply.

It's not clear what's going to happen with their two main Hyde park events. I think Wireless might end up in Hackney, but I'm less sure that Hard Rock Calling will.

knowing most of the dross AEG promote I don't expect to be going to any, unless ofcourse they get the Bieber in. We can only hope

even if they get good acts I'm not entirely sure that you'd want to go to the shows there.

There's been loads of complaints about the low volumes at the shows there this year. There's a lower noise limit for in the new contract (which is why LN suggested they didn't want it anyway).

Hackney is a much better option

it's far less good overall for travelling to - which I reckon will have an effect on sales for events there. It's also not the sort of place that I reckon Hard Rock Calling attendees aspire to, so I'm not entirely sure it would be a good move for that event to move there.

Yeah, transportwise its cack. But in all seriousness Hackney Borough are going to be far more welcoming and accomadating to big outdoor events because it raises the borough's profile and boosts the local economy (and the council's funds). Westminster or Kensington Borough (whichever one Hyde Park falls in?) are primarily concerned with maintaining the profile of their boroughs and keeping their very wealthy residents happy, hence why they are probably bigger party poopers.

Personally I like Victoria Park as a venue (same goes with Tower Hamlets as with Hackney), and I don't know why promoters don't use Finsbury Park more, great transport links and the local residents are all fucking awesome people
