Stage times?

I'm not too sure about Foo Fighters and The Cure being given two and a half hour sets. I know they each have more than enough popular material to fill this time but I usually find that two hours maximum is enough for me when watching a band.

For Leeds.

Green Day are definitely playing at 12.30 in the NME/R1 Stage on the Saturday at Reading.

Foo Fighters would probably have 3 hours at Leeds too, if our curfew was 11.30, but everyone else would get squashed up too much as it is.

They are known to come on early when they can, so we might still get 2 hours 45 mins :)

Foo Fighters will have everyone in the palm of their hand, they could play as long as they liked.

The Cure? Well I'm hopeful they pull it off. They look amazing live at the moment. They will have insisted on a long set, 3 hours is the norm for them.

Maybe being that it looks like they are potentially taking an early slot they're being obvious to insure that they have an audience.

Of course people go to the arena early but if you're a band Greendays size do you want people to be talking about the secret set at Reading 2012 which they wandered into and was full of people who found it by accident or do you want people to be talking about the secret set at Reading 2012 which was so packed out with Greenday fans that they had to put up crowd barriers?

....or not. I'm sure there is another explanation but that's the only thing that I can think of at the moment.

Oh and in regards to the "It's not fair that Leeds don't get them" brigade. I know people love to scream and shout about how much better Leeds is then Reading with all it's extra late night stuff etc etc but Reading will always been the one which has been established longer, is the bigger name and has the TV cameras! Sorry to break it to ya folks!

....of course Leeds has a more accommodating license. But to be honest as a 28 year old guy who's not as young as I used to be, I'd rather get earlier nights and watch Greenday then watch DJs until the early hours and have Kasabian close my weekend.

Each to their own.

What baffles me is that Green Day can announce a secret show in America and charge $20 on the doors. They come over here, announce a secret show and its going to set people £50 out of pocket! I paid less to see them at Wembley Stadium!! Scandalous

Yes, and which performance is going to get all the bells and whistles? The one with the TV cameras watching them! That and the name "Reading Festival", that's why we'll get the Cure playing Friday I'm in love on the correct day of the week and why we'll get The Foo Fighters closing the festival on the 20th anniversary of the first time Dave Grohl played a headline slot on that main stage. Boya!

hahaha

So does everyone think Green Day will be playing before Pure Love on the NME stage on Saturday? Correct?

And when does the other stage times get announced? As helpful as the mainstage and NME times are, I still can't plan my day properly.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
