Had one of the best times of my life on acid, went to see Morrissey at Hyde Park a few years ago, had it at about 1 in the afternoon and was still going strong round Camden at 2 the next morning. If it hits you just right and you take other things to level it out its amazing stuff.

I'd never do LSD at a festival. I get a bit freaked out at times in big crowds, If I do acid I like to be in a safe environment rather than out in the open. In saying that I haven't touched the stuff in years. Used to do alot of Mushrooms when they were legal. Did some at T In The park and ended up wandering around in a daze while my mates kept trying to stop me wandering off.

Do they do that much of a fuss if they catch you smokin a joint at one of your festivals in the UK ? Cause elsewhere in Europe, where i have been, they didnt seem to bother that much i.e security dont take much notice, what is the situation there? Like is it safe to smoke in the crowd while watching a band ?

Depends on the festival I suppose especially in size. Remember watching a fire show one night whilst stood on a small pile of rocks. I them ended up terrified because I could not get down and was scared I would fall off the "mountain". Some lovely girl helped of down the 12 inches. Another time I could not get across a field due to a massive river in the way (a single tractor track about 3 inches deep full of water). I ende up walking up and down in the rain trying to find a crossing point until some 7 year old kid helped me.

i had those sort of trips on magic mushrooms, but acid took me to a whole new level. I liked mushrooms, because I still had one foot in the real world for most of the time, so I could enjoy the spectacle. But the one and only time I took acid, it was not just hallucinations - I stepped into another reality, and it clashed with the 'real' one. So I spent a lot of the time stressing over what was real.

It didn't help that the guy I dropped acid with was a real dick, and kept freaking me out and telling me off etc.

I much prefer mushrooms to acid for the same reason as yourself - you can at least keep one foot in the real world, as you say. In my youth I took acid near enough every weekend for about a year (explains a lot!). Glad I'm out of that stage of life now. I'll still do my favoured mushrooms though as they really can enhance the festival experience for me. Not too many that you go bananas. Just enough to make things 'fluid' ( how on earth can you describe the experience).

You should try going to the curry house for a takeaway on acid and then try to eat it! A very messy escapade that one!

Probably have a different meaning of being out of it. Being out of it within my circle of friends is being wasted to the point of not being able to enjoy it, not my idea of a good time.

Ahh, OK, fair enough.

I read that as you meaning there wasn't a huge effect - and on the basis that there's not really anything which is 'half tripping' (you're either tripping, or you're not), I thought you to be saying something different.

I know i shouldn't be condoning drug usage, but I do believe that if everyone in the world just tried acid once, then the world would be a much nicer place.

I've only tried it a few times (and not for over 10 years), but it was enough to completely alter my outlook on life.

Amazing effect, tripping for 12-13 hours. Not as good as The Who at Hyde Park though, they had performers such as midgets, stilt walkers, and stilt walkers on wheels walking through the crowds and all were dressed as if they were from hell, you didnt know what was real and what wasnt, what a giggle that was.

Like I said earlier nowadays I take stuff to enhance, not ruin my experience of something and dont see the point of pushing yourself when deep down you know your gonna fuck yourself up and its game over for the night.

I've had some great experiences at festivals on Mushrooms. Walking around the late night areas at glasto. There was a time a Reading though when I dropped some mushrooms and then spent the next three hours looking for my very precious zippo lighter that I lost. I went into all the portaloos incase I had put it down in there and had a proper sketch out missing loads of good bands

.

It was in my back pocket the whole time

I think I'm over susceptible to drug effects - I can remember having some home made happy flapjacks at a party once, and then going clubbing - and the sound turned into a white wall that I couldn't walk through.

My mushroom trips seem like other people's acid trips, and my acid trip was a complete break with reality. The one really nice thing was that I can remember thinking I could see people's souls, and they were like glowing humming birds - really beautiful.

i have been turned down when trying to buy from someone who knows me, because 'you're bad enough on alcohol'.

They used to call me Alice, because I used to describe everything as if it was Alice in Wonderland.

The thing is with these drugs, your mindset going into them is all important. A guy I knew would never take mushrooms, because he always saw monsters. He used to like watching me tripping with one of the other guys, because we'd suddenly stop and stare in awe at something completely mundane, because the light glinting off it was beautiful

Like the local coaltip.

I took acid in a club once and then had to go to the toilet for a no2. At least I thought I did. I had actually no concept of whether I had started or had finished, but got fidgity so decided to pull up my jeans anyway. I walked out across the dance floor feeling as if I was pumping out shit behind me for all to wade in. Obviously my friends weren't much use in telling me whether I had soiled myself or not. Later in the night we all went back to a friends house who had a large tinted glass dining table ( sw*nky I hear you say, whilst tittering to yourselves!). Anyway at some point somebody actually managed to see through the glass table and told everybody to look at the ' feet people'. And sure enough there they were underneath the table. I had no idea they lived there up until that point.

I know what you mean about staring at mundane stuff. I stared at a flower once (I know flowers aren't that mundane really) on Shell Island and got totally transfixed by it. It simply was beautiful and gave me an almost spiritual moment. Sometimes it's nice being able to look into another dimension. In a funny way it actually shows you the beauty of the real world.

Yes, i still can't see frost glistening on tarmac without seeing the sheer magical beauty of it. It's a bit like a flashback.

I'm scared/too sensible to take them now. Apart from the fact that they're illegal now, my mind's not as pure as it used to be, and I'm afraid i wouldn't see the world in the same way, and that would spoil the memories for me.

Not surprised to see Reading / Download so low... drug culture has never really been there when I've been to them over the years. One year at Reading there was a lot of Ket going around though. Never seen proper measures put in place to try find this stuff though anyway, few mates got searched by police at Reading station one year. The one with some £150 of ecstasy and whatever else was the one who they didn't pull up though lol.

If anyone knows anything about Dogs at Download let us know... I know their searches are a joke. At least the one the gate ones anyway.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
