If they headlined, personally I would be disappointed. I only reckon they are headline size because I've been convinced by people on this board that they are Jesus in carnate himself, and that T have booked them to headline. But then T have also booked rihanna, so I can't allow myself to take that fest seriously. I honestly reckon Mumford is a passing phase. Banjos won't stay cool forever. They even said themselves they are gonna do something different next album but c'mon, would you have half folk rock stuff and half electro rock in a same set? That would be bizarre, awkward, and just....weird

This discussion happens everytime an act gets promoted to headliner status, are they big enough? people will get tired of them blah blah blah, some keep their high profile and stay at the top while others fade away due to a change in music or other factors

I think its far too difficult to predict what acts stay popular and what ones dont, personally I feel Feeder still have the quality back catalogue and ability to play high spots at fests but obviously due to a big decrease in popularity they are playing spots way below their stature imo, thats just one example personally that proves how hard it is to predict

Cheers mate I'm of the same opinion, they've done the whole reunion thing now, it's not that they're not headline sized anymore it's just that they wont wanna do the same tour as they've done since 08. New material is pretty unlikely at the moment, though i'm hopeful it'll happen at some point, and when it does I'll be at the tour for sure

You just have to hope they hate the world again - they like playing shows when thy hate the government. The whole headline argument - I just don't think there's enough people who want to see them play the same show over and over. For example, I'd prefer the magic moment biblical comes on from biffy then see guerrilla radio again. I'd probably pay 20 quid max to see rage again now. Reminds me of audio slave though, I was desperate to see them then they pulled out of reading 06, and disbanded. Balls.

True, but I still think the headline slot would go down pretty well in general, even if as a few people have said it is quite uninspiring. I'd rather see Rage right now than Biffy, I do prefer Rage but it's more down to the fact their shows are far rarer. I'd probably pay 35-40quid to see them, possibly a bit more if I have it handy, wheras Biffy I wouldn't pay more than 25.

Yeah, and to be fair if there's a lot of young rage fans out there the show would still be unique. I just like it when bands actually have new (decent!!) stuff to promote, and fair enough for 1 reunion tour, but a 2nd with no new stuff is abit piss takey I feel. At least blur will have a new song or 2 and won't have played reading in a long while

The opinion is rage against the machine are not big because they have not released anything, people say blur are big enough because they have released a couple of singles.

If ratm released a couple of singles would peoples opinions change?

Or is there another reason ratm could not headline?

I think Blur would be a lot better as well but one thing to note about Rage is that after their Christmas no 1, there was a surge in their popularity from young people again: people who wouldnt have been old enough to see them in 2008 but are now Reading's prime audience...in that sense, while they havent got more material to promote, they do have a new audience to play to.
