May have over reacted about Jake Bugg just read the e festivals article and it says supporting Stone Roses not subbing Which maybe means it's just a PR favor to the stone roses who seem fond of him.

Maybe Bloc Party are also third then? Wouldn't surprise me tbh, Kaiser Chiefs once subbed and they was third this year.. (Though I could see Bloc Party doing the tent against someone big at Reading/Leeds?)

However you could counter-argue that although MCR played arenas a fair few of the dates sold poorly, I think Cardiff was the most notable, whilst most dates on Bloc Party's tour have sold very well.

MCR were huge unlike Bloc and MCR didn't play an english fest unless you can't Radio 1 as festival (I can't be bothered argueing if it's considered a fest or not).

Is this like Lost Prophets where you are in denial to how big they actually are or do you really think Bloc Party are gonna headline R&L?

MCR is sort of an anomaly booking; however is more justified than Bloc Party headlining as MCR have a rabid fan base that shifted a lot of day tickets whereas Bloc Party don't.

MCR was a booking that looked like they booked in advance hoping that the new album would propel them further. But it didn't, and their arena dates didn't sell well. So it kind of flopped. That said, their performance looked enjoyable from my TV. But I can't see it being any less enjoyable as a sub.

I think MCR was a risk they're probably not going to take again, especially on someone like Bloc Party.

Mumford and Biffy it's less risky as we already know they'll get a hefty crowd

I prefer MCR to Arcade Fire to be honest, but MCR are a band I got into before they became popular so I've always had a soft spot for them. It just annoys me that they still get dragged up all the time as if they are the only band ever to get a smallish crowd, just because some people on here don't like them.

I actually enjoyed MCR at Leeds Fest, Arcade Fire would have been good if they had a decent crowd.. so i went off to watch Pendulum instead, both are better as subs though in my opinion.
