I'm not the biggest fan of Depeche Mode, but I saw them headline a French festival a few years ago and I remember quite enjoying it.

Very, I remember looking out of place with traccy bottoms on in 03 because I didnt want to wear any decent clothes..

they're definitely headlining a UK festival.

We don't have any info on which one, but from their tourdates and promopter comments it's difficult to see it being a festival that isn't R/L

There'd be even more of a shitstorm than when The Cure where announced if DM headlined. But they would be an inspired booking and if the kiddies didn't like it, they've got the new 1Xtra Stage

Could possibly be Sunday at IOW, I guess. With them only being in France the day before. Suppose they are in Berlin the day after and that would be a bit hectic.

Four acts get announced, three of which most likely won't even be on the Main Stage, and people are already complaining that Reading and Leeds are catering towards chavs. I did not realise that the entire line-up would just be those four acts. It does feel like an anti-climax that this is all that has been announced, but it was never going to be the full line-up this early on. And anyway, there's always one or two "chavvy" acts - Lethal Bizzle, Lady Sovereign, Dizzee Rascal, the list goes on.

their o2 shows in May would make them different to the R/L headliners in recent years, so it might not be R/L that they're headlining.

But it's difficult to see what other festival it could be, bearing in mind their tourdates and Rob da Bank having said he tried to book them but they weren't available.
