Well I'm sold! As I've said previously, wasn't to fussed about Queen but would have bought a day ticket for FNM.... adding KISS to the equation means my weekend ticket is in the bag come Thursday!

Only band I'm really gutted didn't make it to UK Soni from the download line up is Soundgarden : (

Regardless of personal taste:

Within Temptation only UK show of 2012, Evanescence only UK show of 2012, , Incubus - only UK show of 2012, Marilyn Manson only UK show of 2012, Andrew WK - only UK festival show of 2012, Refused - only UK show of 2012, and Mastodon with their only UK festival show of 2012. World exclusive for Queen and Euro exclusive for KISS, UK exclusive for Faith No More

...is pretty good going on the old exclusives!

How has it changed for Refused :S ? And I imagine Mastodon must be an English festival exclusive then, rather than the whole UK, that's pretty common - especially as T is in the same weekend and sells out straight away anyways so I'm sure they don't mind sharing the odd act.

Queen aren't a world exclusive though, yeah. They said they MIGHT do a show in Russia to warm up, but apart from that Knebworth is a one off, so it's Euro exclusive and potentially world exclusive depending on what they do to warm up.

That makes sense I guess! Considering how high a slot Refused have, I don't see it being wrong for them to be honest. I think the fact it's their only UK show this year is why they are headlining Saturn - if it wasn't, they'd be lower, easily.

Well you can be pedantic about it, but it's not mainland Europe - which is the terming Roger used on the radio I believe. So it is somewhat of an EU exclusive, Russia isn't a part of the EU :P And it's not set in stone yet, they MIGHT be doing a warm up show in Moscow he said, but it's not been decided if they will or won't

Maybe I'm missing the point behind the 'album in full' angle. Surely the idea is to play a well loved classic (black album, troublegum). I'm not sure turning up to a festival and playing your latest album can be listed as anything special. ;)

Not really heard the album though to be fair, is it any good?

It's probably their most critically acclaimed album and it was the album that pushed them into the mainstream. So out of any of the albums it is probably the biggest deal for them playing it in full... it's not my fave album of theirs but it is incredible.

But it's not a part of the EU is it? I mean you can be pedantic about it and as he said MIGHT is the keyword, they are thinking about doing a warm up show there, the fact that it's a WARM UP show suggests it's not their key focus either. You can argue with Roger Taylor what consititutes mainland Europe, but it's not the other way round, that's what he said and it's on Iplayer if you don't believe me. Knebworth is their only planned show but they might do a warm up gig in moscow, however Knebworth is certainly the only place to see them in the UK and certainly mainland Europe.

I quoted him - and then tried to see his reasoning behind what he was saying, because Russia isn't a part of the EU, so maybe that's what he meant when he said they wouldn't be playing Mainland Europe. But I was quoting what he said and you decided to get all pedantic about it. It was a quote, he said they aren't playing mainland Europe besides Knebworth and maybe a warm up gig in Moscow. You can pick that apart all you want buddy, but that's what he said.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
